Gulshat Omarova
Gulshat Diasovna Omarova ( kk, Гүльшад Диасқызы Өмарова, ''Gülşad Diasqyzy Ömarova''; sometimes credited as Guka Omarova, born 8 October 1968) is a Kazakh film director, actress and screenwriter. She was born in Alma-Ata, Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic and now lives in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 2004, Omarova was presented the Alice Award for Best Female Director by the Copenhagen International Film Festival for her film, ''Shiza''. Biography Gulshat Omarova was born in Alma-Ata to a family of a journalist. Her father was the sports writer Dias Omarov and her mother worked in " Vechernyaya Alma-Ata". Her grandmother was the director of the High Mountain Ice Skating rink "Medeo" and her grandfather was a high official in the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. Almaty (; kk, Алматы; ), formerly known as Alma-Ata ( kk, Алма-Ата), is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of about 2 million. Aleksey Vladimirovich Batalov (russian: link=no, Алексе́й Влади́мирович Бата́лов; 20 November 1928 – 15 June 2017) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film actor, film director, screenwriter and pedagogue acclaimed for his portrayal of noble and positive characters. He was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1976 and a Hero of Socialist Labour in 1989. Life and career Batalov was born on 20 November 1928 in Vladimir, Russia, Vladimir, into a family associated with the theatre. Kazakhfilm ( kk, Қазақфильм, ''Qazaqfilm'', pronounced ; russian: Казахфильм) is a Kazakh film studio located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. History The film studio was founded in 1934 as the Alma-Ata newsreel studio, in 1936 the first documentaries were released. On November 15, 1941, the Alma-Ata film studio merged with the Mosfilm and Lenfilm film studios evacuated to Kazakhstan to the Central United Film Studio - TsOKS, which worked in Alma-Ata until 1944 and produced 80% of all domestic feature films during the war. On January 9, 1960, from the Alma-Ata film studio of feature and newsreel films, it was renamed into the Kazakhfilm film studio. Dina Nurpeisova
Dina Nurpeisova or Nurpeissova (1861- January 31, 1955) was a composer from the Western part of Kazakhstan in the Uralsk area. She was also a noted dombyra player. For her musical accomplishments, she was recognized as the National Artist of Kazakhstan. An orchestra, the Academic Folk Orchestra of Dina Nurpeisova, is named after her, as well as a small village, Dina Nurpeisova. On the 150th anniversary of her birth, in 2011, a postage stamp was issued to commemorate her. The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit for the American and international film industry.
