The Guinea national basketball team represents Guinea in international basketball competitions. It is administrated by the Fédération Guinéenne de Basket-Ball (FGBB). Željko Zečević ( sr-cyr, Жељко Зечевић; born 21 October 1963) is a Serbian professional basketball coach, who is the current head coach of SLAC (basketball club), SLAC of the Basketball Africa League. He is also the head coach of the Guinea men's national basketball team, Guinea national team since 2021. Coaching career Born in Belgrade, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia (now Serbia), Zečević started coaching youth teams in 1988 in his hometown. Zečević started coaching in Italy in 2000, as coach of the Amatori Sniadero Udine junior team. In the 2003–04 season, he made his debut with Potenza of the C-1. AfroBasket 2021 Qualification
The AfroBasket 2021 qualification was a basketball competition that was played from January 2020 to July 2021, to determine the fifteen FIBA Africa nations who would join the automatically qualified host Rwanda at the FIBA AfroBasket 2021, AfroBasket 2021 final tournament. Pre-qualifiers The pre-qualifiers were played in January 2020. Five winners from the five zones qualified to the next round. ''All times are local.'' AfroBasket 2021
FIBA AfroBasket 2021 was the 30th edition of the FIBA AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was hosted by Rwanda for the first time. It was originally scheduled to take place between 17 and 29 August 2021, but it was moved back a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to 24 August to 5 September 2021. The tournament featured 16 teams, with South Sudan debuting at the AfroBasket stage. Tunisia was the defending champion, having won the 2017 tournament and they defended their title with a final win over Ivory Coast, while Senegal won the bronze medal. Host selection In June 2019, FIBA Africa announced that Rwanda hosts the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket outbesting the bids of Senegal, Ivory Coast, and DR Congo. The 2017 FIBA Africa Champions Cup was the 32nd edition of the FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Africa. 2018–19 Africa Basketball League
The 2019 FIBA Africa Basketball League was the 33nd edition of FIBA Africa's premier club Basketball tournament and the 1st under the new format and new name. The season saw an expansion from twelve to sixteen teams. The season began on February 8, 2019, and ended on May 26, 2019, with the conclusion of the Final Four. The Final Four was hosted at the Kilamba Arena in Luanda, Angola. AfroBasket 2009 was the 25th FIBA Africa Championship, played under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Basketball, the basketball sport governing body, and the African zone thereof. At stake were the three berths allocated to Africa in the 2010 FIBA World Championship. The tournament was hosted by Libya after Nigeria, the original host, withdrew from hosting after not conforming to FIBA Africa guidelines. Angola won its sixth consecutive African championship and tenth overall by beating Côte d'Ivoire 82-72 in the championship game.
