Željko Zečević
Željko Zečević ( sr-cyr, Жељко Зечевић; born 21 October 1963) is a Serbian professional basketball coach, who is the current head coach of SLAC (basketball club), SLAC of the Basketball Africa League. He is also the head coach of the Guinea men's national basketball team, Guinea national team since 2021. Coaching career Born in Belgrade, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia (now Serbia), Zečević started coaching youth teams in 1988 in his hometown. Zečević started coaching in Italy in 2000, as coach of the Amatori Sniadero Udine junior team. In the 2003–04 season, he made his debut with Potenza of the C-1. From 2015 to 2017, he was the head coach of Chabab Rif Al Hoceima (basketball), Chabab Rif Al Hoceima in the Moroccan Division Excellence. 2023 BAL Season
The 2023 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 3, is the third season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 11 March 2023 and will end on 27 May 2023, with the playoffs and finals being played in the BK Arena in Kigali, which hosts the finals for a third season in a row. The regular season is played in Dakar, Senegal (Sahara Conference) and Cairo, Egypt (Nile Conference) for a second year in a row. The qualification games for the season, the Road to BAL, began on 11 October 2022. The winners of the 2023 BAL season will automatically qualify for the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup Singapore. US Monastir are the defending champions, having won their first title in the previous season. 2022 BAL Playoffs
The 2022 BAL Playoffs was the second edition of the playoffs of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and was the concluding tournament of the 2022 BAL season. The playoffs began on 21 May 2022 and ended on 28 May 2022 with the Finals. For a second consecutive season, all playoffs games were played at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda. 2022 BAL Sahara Conference
The Sahara Conference of the 2022 BAL season began on 5 March 2022 and ended on 15 March 2022. In a group of six teams, all team played each other one time. The top four teams in the standings advanced to the 2022 BAL Playoffs. All games were played in the Dakar Arena in Dakar, Senegal. 2021 AfroBasket
FIBA AfroBasket 2021 was the 30th edition of the FIBA AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was hosted by Rwanda for the first time. It was originally scheduled to take place between 17 and 29 August 2021, but it was moved back a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to 24 August to 5 September 2021. The tournament featured 16 teams, with South Sudan debuting at the AfroBasket stage. Tunisia was the defending champion, having won the 2017 tournament and they defended their title with a final win over Ivory Coast, while Senegal won the bronze medal. AfroBasket 2009 was the 25th FIBA Africa Championship, played under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Basketball, the basketball sport governing body, and the African zone thereof. At stake were the three berths allocated to Africa in the 2010 FIBA World Championship. The tournament was hosted by Libya after Nigeria, the original host, withdrew from hosting after not conforming to FIBA Africa guidelines. Angola won its sixth consecutive African championship and tenth overall by beating Côte d'Ivoire 82-72 in the championship game. Tunisia won the bronze medal game over Cameroon to earn its first-ever FIBA World Championship berth. The Ligue 1 is the top tier men's basketball league in Guinea. The defending champion is SLAC, which won its sixth title in 2021. Most games of the league are played in the Palais des Sports next to the Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry.
