Guides Du Niger
The Mouvement des Guides et Eclaireuses du Niger is the national Guiding organization of Niger. It became an associate member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 2017. Delegates from Niger and prospect countries Ethiopia and Mozambique attended the 11th Africa Regional Conference from 26 to 31 July 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya. World Association Of Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association supporting the Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. It was established in 1928 in Parád, Hungary, and has its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with these bodies. Girl Guiding And Girl Scouting
A Girl Guide or Girl Scout is a member of a section of some Guiding organisations who is between the ages of 10 and 14. Age limits are different in each organisation. The term Girl Scout is used in the United States and several East Asian countries. The two terms are used synonymously within this article. Girl Guides are organised into units/troops averaging 15–30 girls under guidance of a team of leaders. Units subdivide into patrols of about six Guides and engage in outdoor and special interest activities. Units may affiliate with national and international organisations. Some units, especially in Europe, have been co-educational since the 1970s, allowing boys and girls to work together as Scouts. There are other programme sections for older and younger girls. The Association des Scouts du Niger (in Hausa language ''Iskutun Niger'' and Zarma language ''Nizer Skutey'') is the national Scouting organization of Niger. It was founded in 1993 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1996. The coeducational Association des Scouts du Niger has 3,202 members as of 2011. History Scouting in Niger was started in 1947 under the auspices of Scoutisme Français, French Scouting. The movement was disbanded by the military regime in the 1970s. In 1993, the Roman Catholic Church and the National Directory for the Youth restarted Scouting, supported by the Scouts de France.
