Guha (surname)
Guha ( bn, গুহ, Guho) is an Indian surname found mostly, albeit not uniquely, among Bengali Hindus. It is also another name for the Hindu deity Kartikeya . Guhas mostly belong to Kayastha caste in Bengal. The Bengali Kayasthas evolved as a caste from a category of officials, between the 5th/6th century AD and 11th/12th century AD, its component elements being putative Kshatriyas and mostly Brahmins. Surname

Jessore District
Jessore District (Bengali: যশোর, pronounced Jaw-shore, Anglicised: Jessore), officially spelled Jashore District from April 2018, is a district in the southwestern region of Bangladesh. It is bordered by India to the west, Khulna District and Satkhira District to the south, Khulna and Narail to the east, and Jhenaidah District and Magura District to the north. Anton Andreas Guha (1 April 1937, in Cinobaňa – 7 or 8 February 2010, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Frankfurt am Main) was a German journalist and author. Life Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Frauenau in the Bavarian Forest. Together with his brother, he graduated from high school in Regensburg. He studied German, History and English at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Erlangen, and later sociology and psychology in Frankfurt am Main. Jatindra Charan Guho
Jatindra Charan Guha (13 March 1892 – 2 January 1972), popularly known by his ring name Gobar Guha , was an Indian wrestler and practitioner of Pehlwani. He was the first Asian to win the World Light Heavyweight Championship in the United States in 1921. Early life Gobar came from a family of wrestlers. The Goho family had been known for pioneering, promoting and popularising the art of Pehlwani and physical culture in Bengal, for generations. His great-grandfather had set up an ''akhara'' at Masjidbari Street. His forebears included the legendary Ambu babu, and Khetu babu, who tutored Swami Vivekananda in the finer points of wrestling. Phulrenu Guha
Dr Phulrenu Guha (née Dutta, Bengali:ফুলরেণু গুহ; born 13 August 1911) was an Indian activist, educationist and politician, belonging to the Indian National Congress. She was a member of the Rajya Sabha the Upper house of Indian Parliament from April 1964 to April 1970 from West Bengal. She was the Minister for Social Welfare in the Indira Gandhi Ministry from 1967 to 1969. She was elected to the Lok Sabha the Lower house of Indian Parliament from Contai constituency, West Bengal in 1984. She was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1977. Subrata Guha
Subrata Guha (31 January 1946 – 5 November 2003) was an Indian cricketer who played in four Test cricket, Test matches between 1967 and 1969. Guha was a medium-fast opening bowler. While he was a 20-year-old student at Calcutta University, he was largely responsible for inflicting the only defeat on the West Indian cricket team in India and Ceylon in 1966–67, touring West Indians in 1966–67, when he took 4 for 64 and 7 for 49 for a combined Central and East Zones team. Ranajit Guha
Ranajit Guha (born 23 May 1923, in Siddhakati, Backergunje) is a historian of the Indian Subcontinent who has been vastly influential in the Subaltern Studies group, and was the editor of several of the group's early anthologies. He migrated from India to the UK in 1959, and was a reader in history at the University of Sussex. He currently lives in Purkersdorf, Austria on the edge of the Vienna Woods, with his German-born wife Mechthild Guha, née Jungwirth, herself a leading scholar of subaltern studies, whom he met at the University of Sussex in the early 1960s, where Guha rose to prominence, and then moved to the Australian National University where both continued their work. Ramachandra Guha
Ramachandra "Ram" Guha (born 29 April 1958) is an Indian historian, environmentalist, writer and public intellectual whose research interests include social, political, contemporary, environmental and cricket history, and the field of economics. He is an important authority on the history of modern India. For the years 2011–12, he held a visiting position at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), occupying the Philippe Roman Chair in History and International Affairs. Guha was a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru. Chinmoy Guha (born in September 1958 in Kolkata, India) is a professor and former Head of the department of English at the University of Calcutta, a Bengali essayist and translator, and a scholar of French language and literature. He has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University and Director of Publications, Embassy of France, New Delhi. Earlier he taught English at Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College in Kolkata for more than two decades, and French at the Alliance Française and the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture for eleven and five years respectively.
