Gudrun Brendel-Fischer
Gudrun Brendel-Fischer (born June 17, 1959 in Bayreuth, Germany) is a German politician, representative of the Christian Social Union of Bavaria. She is a representative of the district of Bayreuth in the Bavarian State Parliament. Life and Family After completing secondary education at the Richard Wagner Gymnasium in 1975, Brendel-Fischer trained as a specialist teacher for nutrition and design. In 1983, she started teaching in the districts of Kulmbach, Kronach and Bayreuth. From 1985 to 2007, she was a teacher seminar leader. Since April 2011 she heads the District Association for Horticulture and Landscape Conservation in Upper Franconia (''Oberfranken''). Brendel-Fischer is a Protestant. She is married and has two daughters. She lives on a farm in Heinersreuth-Tannenbach in Bavaria, which is managed by her husband. 2013 Bavarian State Election
The 2013 Bavarian state election was held on 15 September 2013 to elect the 180 members of the 17th Landtag of Bavaria. It was held one week before the 2013 German federal election. The CSU regained the absolute majority it had lost in 2008, while the Free Democratic Party (FDP), a member of the outgoing governing coalition, fell below the 5% electoral threshold and lost all its seats. Minister-President Horst Seehofer continued in office. This election was the last election in which a party got an absolute majority in a state parliament until the 2022 Saarland state election. The CSU previously held an absolute majority, and therefore governed alone, from 1966 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2018. Previously, even in the late 1990s, it was common that either the CDU/CSU or the SPD got an absolute majority in a state election.
