The Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (russian: Российский государственный университет нефти и газа имени И. М. Губкина) is a public university in Moscow, Russia. The university was founded in 1930 and is named after the geologist Ivan Gubkin. The university is colloquially known as Kerosinka (russian: Керосинка), meaning 'kerosene stove'. During the Soviet period, the university, along with the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering, was known for admitting students of Jewish origin while other universities unofficially barred Jewish students. Urban Rusnák
Urban Rusnák (born 9 September 1967 in Košice, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak diplomat and academic. He holds a M.Sc. from the Moscow University of Oil and Gas, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Political Sciences from the Institute of Social Sciences of Ankara University. Urengoy Gas Field
The Urengoy gas field in the northern West Siberia Basin is the world's second largest natural gas field after South Pars / North Dome Gas-Condensate field. The gas field has over ten trillion cubic meters (1013 m³) in total deposits. Vasily Tikhonovich Podshibyakin (russian: Василий Тихонович Подшибякин; 1 January 1928 – 20 May 1997) was a Soviet geologist and head of the trust “Yamalnefterazvedka”. He took part in discoveries of large and unique gas fields in the northern regions of Western Siberia, including Urengoy gas field – the world's second largest natural gas field . OJSC "Yukos Oil Company" (russian: ОАО Нефтяна́я Компа́ния Ю́КОС, links=no, ) was an oil and gas company based in Moscow, Russia. Yukos was acquired from the Russian government by Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky's Bank Menatep during the controversial "loans for shares" auctions of the mid 1990s. Leonid Borisovich Nevzlin (russian: Леони́д Бори́сович Не́взлин; he, לאוניד בוריסוביץ' נבזלין, born 21 September 1959) is a Russian-born Israeli businessman, investor, and philanthropist. Nevzlin occupied various high-ranking positions at Group Menatep and its subsidiary, the Yukos Oil Company. In 2003, the Russian state expropriated Yukos and began a campaign of persecution against its executives. Yury Luzhkov
Yury Mikhailovich Luzhkov ( rus, Ю́рий Миха́йлович Лужко́в, p=ˈjʉrʲɪj mʲɪˈxajləvʲɪtɕ lʊˈʂkof; 21 September 1936 – 10 December 2019) was a Russian politician who served as mayor of Moscow from 1992 to 2010. Before the election of Gavriil Popov as the first mayor of Moscow, he also headed the capital in 1990-1991 as chairman of the Mosgorispolkom. During Luzhkov's time, Moscow's economy expanded and he presided over large construction projects in the city, including the building of a new financial district. Alexander Givental (russian: Александр Борисович Гивенталь) is a Russian-American mathematician working in symplectic topology and singularity theory, as well as their relation to topological string theories. He graduated from Moscow Phys-Math school number 2 (later renamed into Lyceum ) and then the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, and he finally his Ph.D. under the supervision of V. I.
