Guaracy Silveira
Guaracy Batista da Silveira (born 2 January 1951) is a Brazilian politician and pastor. Although born in São Paulo, he has spent his political career representing Tocantins, having served as national senator from 2018 to 2019. Personal life Silveria was born in Capão Bonito. He is a bishop in the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Kátia Abreu
Kátia Regina de Abreu (born 2 February 1962) is a Brazilian politician. She has been serving as the Senator from Tocantins since 2007. She was a congresswoman elected by the Tocantins State from 2003 to 2007. She is a member of Progressistas, since her leaving from Democratic Labour Party (PDT) in March 2020. On 23 December 2014, President Dilma Rousseff appointed Abreu as Minister of Agriculture, to serve during the president's second term, amid controversies among environmentalists, including the group Greenpeace. Abreu took office on 1 January 2015 during Rousseff's second inauguration. Abreu was fired on 12 May 2016, after president Rousseff was suspended by the Senate and vice-president Michel Temer was sworn as acting president, being replaced by Blairo Maggi. 2018 Ciro Gomes Presidential Campaign
The 2018 presidential campaign of Ciro Gomes was announced on 8 March 2018. At the Democratic Labour Party (PDT) convention on 20 July, Gomes was formally nominated as the party's presidential candidate. His running mate, Kátia Abreu, former Minister of Agriculture in Dilma Rousseff's government, was confirmed as his running mate on 5 August, on the last day of political parties conventions. Ciro Gomes' party formed the coalition ''Sovereign Brazil'' with AVANTE. Ciro had previously been a candidate for the presidency in 1998 and 2002 as the candidate of the Popular Socialist Party (PPS), losing both times. Tocantins
Tocantins () is one of the 26 states of Brazil. It is the newest state, formed in 1988 and encompassing what had formerly been the northern two-fifths of the state of Goiás. Tocantins covers and had an estimated population of 1,496,880 in 2014. Construction of its capital, Palmas, began in 1989; most of the other cities in the state date to the Portuguese colonial period. With the exception of Araguaína, there are few other cities with a significant population in the state. The government has invested in a new capital, a major hydropower dam, railroads and related infrastructure to develop this primarily agricultural area.
