Canoeing At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's C-1 1000 Metres
The men's C-1 1000 metres competition in canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park in Beijing between August 18 and 22. The C-1 event is raced in single-man sprint canoes. Competition consists of three rounds: the heats, the semifinals, and the final. All boats compete in the heats. Elina Vaseva ( bg, Елина Васева; born August 21, 1986 in Kyustendil) is an amateur Bulgarian freestyle wrestler, who played for the women's middleweight category. She won the bronze medal for her division at the 2010 European Wrestling Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. She is also a member of Yunak-Lokomotiv Wrestling Club in Ruse, and is coached and trained by Simeon Shterev. This freestyle wrestling competition consisted of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winner of two bronze medals. A pin, or fall, is a victory condition in various forms of wrestling that is met by holding an opponent's shoulders or scapulae (shoulder blades) on the wrestling mat for a prescribed period of time.
