Christopher Duenas (born in Tamuning, Guam) is an Olympic and national record holding swimmer from Guam. He has swum for Guam at the: *Olympics: 2008, 2012 *World Championships: 2007, 2009, 2011 *Short Course Worlds: 2012 Early life and education Christopher Duenas started swimming when he was six years old. Olympic career At the 2008 Olympics, he competed in the 100 m freestyle, finishing in 59th place. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the Men's 100 metre freestyle, finishing in 44th place overall in the heats, failing to qualify for the semifinals. International career Duenas won a bronze medal at the 2007 Pacific Games in the 100 meter freestyle. The Chamorro people (; also CHamoru) are the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands, politically divided between the United States territory of Guam and the encompassing Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in Micronesia. Today, significant Chamorro populations also exist in several U.S. states, including Hawaii, California, Washington, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, and Nevada, all of which together are designated as Pacific Islander Americans according to the U.S. Census. According to the 2000 Census, about 64,590 people of Chamorro ancestry live in Guam and another 19,000 live in the Northern Marianas. The 2015 Pacific Games, also known as Port Moresby 2015 or POM 2015, was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, from 4 to 18 July 2015. The 8th Micronesian Games were held from July 20 to July 30, 2014, in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). The Games began with an opening ceremony on the track and field grounds. They included "traditional war dances", and the unfurling of the Games flag in the air as it was delivered by parachute. At the closing of the Games, Guam had topped the medal table with eighty-one medals, of which forty-two were gold. 2007 Pacific Games
The 2007 South Pacific Games were held in Apia, Samoa, from 25 August to 8 September 2007. The Games were the thirteenth to be held since the inception of the South Pacific Games in 1963, and included traditional multi-sport event disciplines, such as athletics and swimming, alongside region-specific and smaller events such as outrigger canoeing, surfing and lawn bowls. The principal venue for the Games was Apia Park, with other events taking place at the Faleata Sporting Complex and at other locations around Samoa.
