Grüner Veltliner
Grüner Veltliner (Green Veltliner) ) is a white wine grape variety grown primarily in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. The leaves of the grape vine are five-lobed with bunches that are long but compact, and deep green grapes that ripen in mid-late October in the Northern Hemisphere. In 2008, Grüner Veltliner plantations in Austria stood at , and it accounts for 32.6% of all vineyards in the country, almost all of it being grown in the northeast of the country. Thus, it is the most-planted grape variety in Austria. Some is made into sparkling wine in the far northeast around Poysdorf. Along the Danube to the west of Vienna, in Wachau, Kremstal and Kamptal, it grows with Riesling in terraces on slopes so steep they can barely retain any soil. The result is a very pure, mineral wine capable of long aging, that stands comparison with some of the great wines of the world. Grüner IL
Grüner Idrettslag is a Norwegian alliance sports club from Grünerløkka, Oslo. It has sections for association football, team handball and ice hockey, formally named ''Grüner Fotball IL '', ''Grüner Håndball IL'' and ''Grüner Ishockey IL''. The club colors are purple. It was founded on 14 October 1952 as a merger of the teams ''Strong'', ''B14'' and ''Spero'', but it counts 1914, founding date of B14, as its own founding date. After merging with ''Hugin'' in 1969 it held the name ''Grüner/Hugin'', but reverted to Grüner IL in 1974. The club crest was inspired by that of Allmänna Idrottsklubben. Departments Football The men's football team currently plays in the Fourth Division, having had runs in the Third Division from 2002 to 2005 and from 2007 to 2012. In 2007 the team even won its group, and contested a playoff to be promoted to the Second Division. However the team was utterly thrashed by Skjetten SK, 0–14 over two legs. Grüner See (Styria)
Grüner See (Green Lake) is a lake in Styria, Austria in a village named Tragöß, which is part of the municipality Tragöß-Sankt Katharein. The lake is surrounded by forests and three mountains: Pribitz (1,579 m), Meßnerin (1,835 m) and Trenchtling (Hochturm) (2,081 m), all part of the Hochschwab Mountains. The name "Green Lake" originated because of its emerald-green water. The clean and clear water comes from the snowmelt from the karst mountains and has a temperature of . During winter, the lake is only deep and the surrounding area is used as a county park. However, in spring, when the temperature rises and snow melts, the basin of land below the mountains fills with water. The lake reaches its maximum depth of around from mid-May to June and is claimed to look the most beautiful at this time. In July, the water begins to recede. George Grüner
George Grüner (born 4 January 1943) is a Hungarian-American physicist, Distinguished Professor of Physics at the University of California, Los Angeles, UCLA. Education and career George Grüner attended the Eötvös Loránd University, obtaining his obtaining his B.S. degree in 1967. Upon graduation he joined the in Budapest as research associate. He received his Ph.D. in 1972, and from 1972 to 1973 he was a postdoctoral associate at Imperial College, London. From 1972 to 1980 he directed a research group at KFKI. In 1981 he was appointed professor of physics at UCLA and since 1987, has held the distinguished professor title there.
