Grønland, Oslo
Grønland (meaning “Greenland” in Norwegian) is a neighbourhood in central Oslo, Norway. It is served by several tram and bus lines, as well as the Oslo Metro at the Grønland Station. The neighborhood, along with neighboring Tøyen, is considered to be very ethnically diverse and is home to a large population of immigrants. The neighbourhood is situated on the east side of Akerselva, five to ten minutes walking distance from Oslo Central Station and downtown Oslo. Middelalderparken
The Medieval Park ( no, Middelalderparken) is located in the borough of Gamle Oslo in Oslo, Norway. The park was opened in the year 2000 at Sørenga in what was once the southern part of the medieval city of Oslo. The park is located within an area which also included the Minneparken and Ladegården on the north side of Bispegata. Development in the area is prohibited due to ruins and cultural layers above and below ground. In the park are the ruins of St. Clement's Church, St. Mary's Church and the former royal estate (''Oslo Kongsgård''). In the west the shore line meets the park's land area approximately where Oslofjord met Oslo during the Middle Ages (about year 1300). Botsfengslet
Botsfengselet is a former national prison for long-term prisoners in Oslo, Norway. Its location is at the former Åkebergløkka, Grønlandsleiret 41. The prison was designed by architect Heinrich Ernst Schirmer. The prison was built starting 1844 and came into use from 1851. The prison chapel was designed by architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan and came into use during 1887. In 1970 Ullersmo Prison took over as a prison for long-term prisoners in Norway, while Botsfengselet was rehabilitated and served as a department of the district prison in Oslo ( no, Oslo Kretsfengsel) from 1975. Bjørvika
Bjørvika is a neighborhood in the Sentrum borough of Oslo, Norway. The area is an inlet in the inner Oslofjord, situated between Gamlebyen and Akershus Fortress. It serves as an outlet for the river Akerselva. Since the 2000s, it has been undergoing urban redevelopment, being transformed from a container port. When completed, the Bjørvika neighborhood will be a new cultural and urban center in Oslo.
