Grupo Revelação
Grupo Revelação is a Brazilian pagode group that was formed in the 1990s in Rio de Janeiro. With an original line-up that included Xande de Pilares, the group has released various albums in the 2000s to much success, including many hit singles. History Grupo Revelação was founded on 23 April 1991 in the neighborhood of Engenho Novo. The group got it's start at the Arranco samba school based in the same neighborhood. At the start, the group had great influence from Victor Stecca with pagode "de mesa" sessions that were typical of Rio de Janeiro that they had done while at Arranco. With the help of João Carlos Silva Filho, the artistic manager of radio station FM O Dia, the group released many popular songs in the Rio de Janeiro region. This led them to success with their first album, ''Revelação'', in 2000, launched with the record label BMG. Renato Da Rocinha
Renato Baptista dos Santos, better known by the name Renato da Rocinha (Rio de Janeiro, September 21, 1978), is a Brazilian samba singer and songwriter. Career Renato was born and raised in the Rocinha community of Rio de Janeiro, and frequented several samba wheels in the city as a child, alongside his father. At 16, when he was working as an assistant at a car dealership, he took a course in radio presenting, later helping as an audio operator for Rocinha community radio locator, Avelino da Silva. On the radio, he was responsible for the program "Papo de Samba", without qualifying several known sambistas in the carioca scenario. Som Livre (Portuguese for "Free Sound") is a Brazilian record company that was founded in March 1969 in order to commercialize the soundtracks for TV Globo (its then parent company) soap operas and later expanded to recording studio albums. , it is owned by Sony Music. Deckdisc is a Brazilian record company that was founded in 1998. History The Deckdisc officially began his career as a record label in 1998, with distribution from Universal Music. The first success was the series "O Som do Barzinho", which reached more than two million copies sold in its five volumes. It was founded by João Augusto, a journalist and producer who was A&R at PolyGram and A&R, VP of EMI. Reco-reco
The reco-reco (also called the raspador, caracaxá or querequexé) is a scraper of African origin used as a percussion instrument in Brazilian music,ROCCA, Edgar Nunes "Bituca", ''Escola Brasileira de Música: Uma visão Brasileira no ensino da música e seus instrumentos de percussão 1''. Pandeiro
The pandeiro () is a type of hand frame drum popular in Brazil. The pandeiro is used in a number of Brazilian music forms, such as samba, choro, coco, and capoeira music. The drumhead is tunable, and the rim holds metal jingles (''platinelas'') which are cupped, creating a crisper, drier and less sustained tone on the pandeiro than on the tambourine. It is held in one hand, and struck on the head by the other hand to produce the sound. Typical pandeiro patterns are played by alternating the thumb, fingertips, heel, and palm of the hand. A pandeiro can also be shaken to make sound, or one can run a finger along the head to produce a drum roll. Tan-tan
A tan-tan is a cylindrical hand drum from Brazil that is used in small samba and pagode ensembles. It imitates the big Surdo which is played by the famous samba ''baterias'' (percussion ensembles). But due to its smaller size the tan-tan is not as loud as a surdo and so it is played rarely in big samba schools, but rather within closer gatherings of musicians called Rodas do Chôro. The tan-tan is played in a sitting or standing position by one hand beating the drum head whilst the other hand taps the metal or wood body of the drum.
