Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg
Grizzlys Wolfsburg are a professional ice hockey club of the Germany, German professional ice hockey league Deutsche Eishockey Liga. They play their games at Eisarena Wolfsburg, Eisarena in Wolfsburg. History Wolfsburg earned their first promotion to the DEL in 2004. However after one season, they were relegated back to 2nd Bundesliga (ice hockey), 2.Bundesliga due to their arena not meeting league standards. In 2006, Eisarena Wolfsburg opened, allowing the club to return to the DEL, where they have remained since. The 2010–11 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season, 2010–11 season marked the first time the club advanced to the league championship series, but they were swept by Eisbären Berlin. The 2021–22 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 28th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. It started on 9 September 2021 and ended on 4 May 2022. The season was contested by 15 teams, as the 2020–21 DEL2 champion SC Bietigheim Steelers received a license. In February 2022, the DEL announced that only one team would be relegated, after only the Löwen Frankfurt applied for a license. 2020–21 DEL Season
The 2020–21 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 27th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the league announced 13 November 2020 as the start date, which was later postponed to a later date. On 19 November 2020, the DEL announced that the season would start on 17 December 2020. Eisbären Berlin won their eighth title, after defeating the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in three games. Format The season saw the same 14 teams as last year, as all teams were given a license. Adler Mannheim will be the defending champions from the 2018–19 DEL season as the 2019–20 season was ended after the regular season. At that point, EHC Red Bull München, who won three consecutive DEL titles until Mannheim’s 2019 triumph (a 4–1 series win against Munich), were the league leaders and had clinched the first seed for the DEL playoffs. COVID-19 Pandemic In Germany
The COVID-19 pandemic in Germany has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. On 27 January 2020, the first case in Germany was confirmed near Munich, Bavaria. By mid February, the arising cluster of cases had been fully contained. On 25 and 26 February, multiple cases related to the Italian outbreak were detected in Baden-Württemberg. A carnival event on 15 February in Heinsberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, was attended by a man identified as positive on 25 February; in the outbreak which subsequently developed from infected participants, authorities were mostly no longer able to trace the likely chains of infections. The 2019–20 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 26th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga running from 13 September 2019 to 10 March 2020. The 2018–19 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 25th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga running from 14 September 2018 to 30 April 2019. All 14 clubs from the previous year and the Löwen Frankfurt applied for a license. The season saw the same teams as last year, as all teams were given their license. After a points-per-game record during the regular season with 2,23 points per game, the Adler Mannheim won the title for their seventh time defeating EHC Red Bull München 4–1 in the finals. Player and staff awards During the season, Danny aus den Birken, goalkeeper of EHC Red Bull München was selected als player of the year and goalie of the year.
