Grindsted Speedway Klub
Grindsted Speedway Klub is a speedway club, based at the Billund Municipality Stadium, north of Grindsted in Denmark, who compete in the Danish Speedway League. The team have never won the Danish Speedway League but have spent numerous seasons in the highest league tier. Venue The club's track known as the Billund Municipality Stadium is located about 6 kilometres in a north east direction from the centre of Grindsted, on Blåbjergvej 1. History 1985 to 1993 The club was founded in 1985 but initially operated grasstrack speedway only. The following year the professional Danish Speedway League or Superliga was created but Grindsted did not build a full size speedway track until 1990. It took another three years for the club to form a 500cc team, competing in division 2 of the league in 1993. 2007 to present During the 2007 Danish speedway season, the team competed in the top tier of Danish speedway for the first time. The Danish Speedway League ( da, Dansk Speedway Liga) or Danish Super League or Metal League as it is called today is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Rune Holta
Rune Holta (born 29 August 1973 in Stavanger, Norway) is a speedway rider. He grew up in Randaberg Norway, but has been a Polish citizen since 2002, allowing him to represent Poland in international competitions and was a member of their Speedway World Cup winning teams in 2005, 2007 & 2010. He has also won the Polish Championship in 2003 and 2007. In 2020, he rode for Dackarna Malilla in the Swedish Elit League and for Włókniarz Częstochowa in the Polish Ekstraliga. In 2022, he helped PSŻ Poznań win the 2022 2.Liga. Awards For his sport achievements, he received: Golden Cross of Merit in 2007. Kai Pekka Laukkanen (born 8 April 1975) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Finland. Career Laukkanen won the final running of the Intercontinental Final in 2001. He rode in 2004 Speedway Grand Prix and won the bronze medal in 2005 Individual Speedway European Championship. Individual Individual Championship The 2021 Danish Individual Speedway Championship was the 2021 edition of the Danish Individual Speedway Championship. As in 2020, the final was staged over a single round at the Vojens Speedway Center. For the second year in a row, the title was won by Anders Thomsen, who beat Nicki Pedersen, Leon Madsen and Kenneth Bjerre.
