Chet L. Grimsley (born July 14, 1956) is an American football player. Grimsley was the first White-American student athlete from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). He joined the Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship at Johnson C. Smith University, a historically black university. In 1976, Grimsley received the M.V.P. Award and the Pettis Norman Award for football. Grimsley was also named to the First Team all-CIAA and received Eastern Airlines most valuable player all american. Grimsley was also the president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athlete of the Month at an historically black university. Crawford Grimsley (born October 1, 1967) is a retired professional heavyweight boxer and kickboxer, who fought several significant fighters of his era. He challenged once for the lineal, WBU and vacant IBA heavyweight titles in 1996, and once for the IBO heavyweight title in 1997. Professional career He made his professional debut in 1994, stopping Steve Paolilli in the first round. His most notable match was against Jimmy Thunder. In 1.5 seconds, Thunder delivered a right hook to the head and Grimsley hit the mat and the match ended. This match serves as the fastest boxing match in history. Jason Alan Grimsley (born August 7, 1967) is a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher who played for seven teams during a 15-year career. He was a member of both the 1999 and 2000 World Series champion New York Yankees. Major League career Jason attended Tarkington High School in Cleveland, Texas. Jim Grimsley (born September 21, 1955) is an American novelist and playwright. Biography Born to a rural family in Grifton, North Carolina, Grimsley said of his childhood that "for us in the South, the family is a field where craziness grows like weeds". After moving to Atlanta he would spend nearly twenty years as a secretary at Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital before joining the creative-writing faculty at Emory University. During those years, Grimsley wrote prolifically, with fourteen of his plays produced between 1983 and 1993. Writing His initial forays into novel writing were less successful than his dramatic work. John Glenn Grimsley (February 25, 1962 – February 6, 2008) was an American linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) who played for seven seasons for the Houston Oilers. Grimsley was born in Canton, Ohio, where he graduated from McKinley High School. He played college football at Kentucky under coach Jerry Claiborne. Grimsley was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 1988 season. In 1991, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins and stayed there until he retired in 1993.
