Griegprisen
Griegprisen (established 1972 in Bergen, Norway) is awarded by the «Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen» to a Norwegian musician, conductor or musicologist who in a special way have communicated the music of Edvard Grieg. It has also been awarded an extraordinary five times to people who have made a special effort to Edvard Grieg and Troldhaugen. The prize is awarded every year on the birthday of Edvard Grieg, 15 June. Magnar Mangersnes
Magnar Mangersnes (31 October 1938 – 9 January 2023) was a Norwegian organist and choral conductor. Early and personal life Mangersnes was born in Radøy to Johannes Mikal Mangersnes and Maria Mosevoll. He married Kari Eli Mikkelsen in 1962. He graduated as teacher in 1962, and from the Bergen Musikkonservatorium in 1966. Career From 1971 Mangersnes was assigned Organist and Master of the Choristers ( no, domkantor) in the Bergen Cathedral. He established and conducted the choir from 1971. The choir was awarded Spellemannprisen in 1979 for the album ''Folketoner i glass og ramme''. Einar Steen-Nøkleberg
Einar Steen-Nøkleberg (born 25 April 1944) is a Norwegian classical pianist and musical pedagogue. Steen-Nøkleberg was born in Østre Toten to farmer Jacob Steen-Nøkleberg and Signe Sveen. He has recorded more than fifty albums, and toured all over Europe, in America, Asia, and the Soviet Union. He was appointed professor at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover from 1975 to 1982, and professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music from 1982. He was awarded the Norwegian Music Critics Award 1975, Spellemannprisen 1976, Lindemanprisen 1987, and Griegprisen in 1988. He was decorated Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1993. Edith Thallaug (16 June 1929 – 7 June 2020) was a Norwegian actress and opera singer. Personal life Thallaug was born in Bærum to Rolf Thallaug and Marta Marie Halvorsen, and was a sister of actress and singer Anita Thallaug. She was married three times, first to violinist Bjarne Gullov Larsen, second to singer and director Ulf Björkegren, and third time to violinist Josef Benczy. Career Thallaug was assigned with Studioteatret from 1947 to 1948 and with Nationaltheatret from 1948 to 1960. Arve Tellefsen () (born 14 December 1936) is a Norwegian violinist who has worked with conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Arvid Jansons, Herbert Blomstedt, Gary Bertini, Evgeny Svetlanov, Bryden Thomson, Neeme Järvi, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Berglund, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Walter Weller and Zubin Mehta. Terje Tønnesen
Terje Tønnesen (born 27 February 1955 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian classical violinist. His first marriage, from 1979 to 1986, was to the pianist Reidun Askeland (born 1957). In 1986 he married the actress Hilde Grythe (born 18 July 1955), daughter of NRK program host Odd Grythe (1918–94) and film director Kirsten Sørlie (1926–2013). Career Tønnesen made a sensational debut at age 17 in 1972, "A dazzling debut with hardly any parallel", as it was described in the Oslo newspaper. Det Norske Kammerorkester or The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra (established in 1977) is a chamber orchestra based in Oslo. Biography The orchestra was founded by the violinist Bjarne Fiskum who got the idea for a summer course for young string talents summer 1975. Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester
The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra is a Norwegian orchestra based in Bergen. Its principal concert venue is the Grieg Hall. History Established in 1765 under the name ''Det Musicalske Selskab'' (The Musical Society), it later changed its name to ''Musikselskabet Harmonien''. Bergen citizens often refer to the ensemble as "Harmonien" (the Harmony). Dag Schjelderup-Ebbe
Dag Schjelderup-Ebbe (10 December 1926 – 1 February 2013) was a Norwegian musicologist, composer, music critic and biographer. He was a lecturer at the University of Oslo for thirty years, from 1973 with the title of professor. His research mainly centered on the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Life and career Schjelderup-Ebbe was born in Oslo as the son of zoologist Thorleif Schjelderup-Ebbe and Torbjørg Brekke. He graduated in musicology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1950, and started teaching at the University of Oslo the same year. Karsten Anker Andersen (16 February 192015 December 1997) was a Norwegian conductor. Life Karsten Andersen was born in Fredrikstad. He graduated from the Oslo Music Conservatory (1938–39) and Accademia Musicale Chigiana (1947). He made his debut as a violinist in 1939. He was employed by the Oslo Philharmonic in Oslo from 1940 to 1945. He was Principal Conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1964 to 1985, becoming Artistic Director in 1966.
