Camouflage (band)
Camouflage is a German synth-pop trio consisting of lead singer Marcus Meyn (b. May 2, 1966), Heiko Maile and Oliver Kreyssig. Their only Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 hit was "The Great Commandment (song), The Great Commandment", which reached No. 59 in early 1989, and spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart. They also had two minor dance hits in 1989. History In 1983, Heiko Maile, Marcus Meyn, Oliver Kreyssig, and Martin Kähling, four friends from Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, formed the band Licensed Technology. It was short lived, as Martin Kähling left in 1984. Soon after, the remaining three members renamed themselves "Camouflage", inspired by a Yellow Magic Orchestra song of the same name. The three young musicians set up their first studio in the basement of Heiko's parents' house, calling it "Boy's Factory". Their first live gigs at local music clubs soon followed. Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. ''Relocated'' is the seventh studio album from German synthpop group Camouflage, released on August 28, 2006 by SPV Records. Three singles were released from the record: "Motif Sky", "Something Wrong", and "The Pleasure Remains". Reviews ''Release Magazine'' gave the album a mostly positive review, stating "...slightly more pop tuned, but still holds all the Camouflage trademark elements. Personal vocal performances, gloom and pop all in one. The single "Motif Sky" is one of the tracks that have blossomed through repeated listening, as have "We Are Lovers" and my current favourite "Dreaming". Peter Heppner
Peter Heppner (born 7 September 1967 in Hamburg) is the former lead singer of the German electronica/synth pop band Wolfsheim, and has collaborated with many other electronic music acts, such as Paul van Dyk, Schiller, and Goethes Erben. Career Being singer and songwriter for Wolfsheim since 1987, his first commercial success was in 1991 releasing the single "The Sparrows and the Nightingales". In 1998, he had a big charts success with NDW star Joachim Witt and their duet "Die Flut". In the years following, his notability as a singer increased. Collaborating with Schiller, he achieved international chart hits with "Dream of You" (2001) and "Leben... I Feel You" in 2004. In the same year, he released the song " Wir Sind Wir" with Paul van Dyk. Although the song was controversial the artists recorded another version together with the Filmorchester Babelsberg which was performed at the official ceremony for the Day of German Unity on 3 October 2005 in Potsdam.
