Gresford Athletic Football Club is a football team based in Gresford, near Wrexham, Wales. They are members of the Cymru North, which is in the second tier of the Welsh football league system and play at The Rock in Rhosymedre, as from March 2023. History ''Information sourced from Gresford Athletic website'' The history of the present-day Gresford Athletic stretches back to 1946, although it is known that the club existed in the 1920s. Gresford Athletic won the Welsh National League East Division in the 1946/47 season. The next time the club won a league trophy was in 1962/63, when they won the Welsh National League Division Two. In 1969, Division Three was split into two sections, A and B, with Gresford Athletic Reserves winning the Welsh National League Division Three A title. The Rock (stadium)
The Rock, Rhosymedre, near Wrexham, Wales is the current home stadium for Welsh Premier League team Cefn Druids. In March 2009 planning permission was granted to demolish Cefn's old stadium, Plaskynaston Lane, and replace it with a Tesco supermarket. Delays to the beginning of construction put the project back by 12 months and the club moved into the new stadium in August 2010. Facilities The new complex at Rhosymedre includes a 512-seat stand, a club house and a television gantry. As it is sited in a disused quarry, one side of the stadium features a sheer rock wall. In 2016, a 3G pitch was installed at the stadium. Attendances The record attendance at the stadium was set in June 2017 as 1,854 attended a friendly against Wrexham. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenanceartificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. Domed, covered, and partially covered stadiums may require artificial turf because of the difficulty of getting grass enough sunlight to stay healthy. Charley Joseph Edge (born 14 May 1997) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a winger for Cymru North club Gresford Athletic. Edge joined the Colchester United Academy from Everton in 2015 after completing his two-year scholarship. He had previously been on the books of Swansea City and Stoke City. He has also represented Maldon & Tiptree on loan from Colchester, prior to making his professional debut in February 2017. He joined Leamington on loan in September 2017, and Needham Market in March 2018. He was released by Colchester at the end of the 2017–18 season. Ruthin ( ; cy, Rhuthun) is a market town and community in Denbighshire, Wales, in the south of the Vale of Clwyd. It is Denbighshire's county town.
