Tanteen Recreation Ground
Tanteen Recreation Ground is a cricket and football ground in St. George's, Grenada. History The area in which the ground is located was formerly swamp land, which was drained in 1905. The ground has played host to public events, including a speech delivered by then President of Cuba Fidel Castro in August 1998. Representative cricket was first played there in 1997, when the Windward Islands played Guyana in a first-class match in the 1996–97 Red Stripe Cup. A further first-class match was played there in 1998, before a gap of seven years before the next. The ground hosted the Windward Islands in one first-class match in 2005, two in 2006, and one in 2007. In a 2005 match against the Leeward Islands, the Windward Islands Deighton Butler took a hat-trick in the Leeward Islands second innings. The GFA Premier League is the top football league in Grenada. It was created in 1983 and is headed by the Grenada Football Association. 10 teams participate in this league. The 10th-placed team is relegated to the Grenada First Division, while the 9th-placed team plays a play-off with the 2nd-placed team of the second level. Despite being a league competition in CONCACAF none of the Grenadan teams ever played in CFU Club Championship or CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Some of the matches are played at the 9,000 capacity Grenada National Stadium. In 2014, the match between PetroCaribe Queens Park Rangers and Nixon's Electrical Happy Hill FC was the first live broadcast of a Premier Division match. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. Grenada Boys' Secondary School
The Grenada Boys' Secondary School (GBSS) is a secondary school in the island of Grenada. Origins The Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, initially known as the St. George's Grammar School officially, opened on 2 February 1885, at Mrs. Grey's premises in Hospital Street (the present location of First Caribbean International Bank on Church Street) in St. George's, with 10 male students. In 1910–11 the school was restructured and renamed Grenada Boys’ Secondary School and was relocated to Melville Street at the present site of the Police Barracks. The new premises was officially opened on September 18, 1911 with an enrolment of 23 students. In May 1946 the school was relocated to Tanteen to wooden barracks, which previously housed the Windward Island battalion for World War II. The wooden barracks were destroyed by hurricane Ivan in 2004. The school experienced severe destruction from two fires in April and June 2005.
