Greg Whitecross
Greg Whitecross (born 15 March 1961) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Junior career Whitecross was the boys' singles champion at the 1979 Australian Open, defeating Craig Miller in the final. He won the doubles title as well, with Michael Fancutt. In 1979, he was also a quarter-finalist in the French Open and made the round of 16 at Wimbledon. Professional career Whitecross competed in the main singles draw at the Australian Open six times, without ever making it past the opening round. The closest he came was in the 1982 Australian Open when he lost to Damir Keretić in five sets, after claiming the first two. Mike Leach (tennis)
Michael E. Leach (born March 9, 1960) is a former collegiate and ATP Tour professional tennis player who won the NCAA singles championship in 1982 while attending the University of Michigan. Early years Leach grew up in Weston, Massachusetts outside Boston. He was the third child in a family of six and began playing tennis after he received a racket for his 11th birthday. He earned the No. 1 singles and doubles rankings in New England's 14-and-under division, and upon moving to the 16-18 division, he was ranked No. 11 nationally. University of Michigan Leach accepted a tennis scholarship to attend the University of Michigan, where he won the 1982 NCAA singles title was the first married NCAA winner in history, and was a two-time All-American. Brisbane International
The Brisbane International established in 2009 is a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hardcourts in Brisbane, Queensland in Australia. It is a WTA Premier tournament of the WTA Tour and was part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the ATP World Tour until 2019, when it was dropped from the ATP Tour. The tournament is held annually in January at the Queensland Tennis Centre just before the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open (part of the Australian Open Series). The Grand Prix tennis circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players that existed from 1970 to 1989. The Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis (WCT) were the two predecessors to the current tour for male players, the ATP Tour, with the Grand Prix being more prominent. Background Before the Open Era, popular professional tennis players, such as Suzanne Lenglen and Vincent Richards, were contracted to professional promoters. Amateur players were under the jurisdiction of their national (and international) federations. Later professional promoters, such as Bill Tilden and Jack Kramer, often convinced leading amateurs like Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver to join their tours with promises of good prize money. The 1984 Wimbledon Championships was a tennis tournament played on grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London in the United Kingdom. Eddie Edwards (tennis)
Eddie Edwards (born 3 July 1956) is a retired professional tour tennis player. The right-handed Edwards was a tour regular from the mid-1970s to the end of 1987. He played in singles a total of 112 grand prix (including World Championship Tennis events) and 24 grand slam tournaments. His best results were on grass, reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon in 1986 and winning the Adelaide grand prix event in 1985. VÃctor Pecci Sr. (born October 15, 1955) is a former professional tennis player from Paraguay. He was ranked as high as world No. 9 in singles in 1980 and world No. 31 in doubles in 1984. Pecci is famous for reaching the 1979 French Open final.
