Greenfield is a city and county seat of Adair County, Iowa, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 2,062. History The area around Greenfield was settled in 1854. The plan for the town of Greenfield was created in 1856 when the land was purchased by Milton C. Munger. Munger is responsible for the design of Greenfield's unique Lancaster-style town square, and the city park located at Grant and NE Second Street was also included in the original plat. Greenfield is named after Greenfield, Massachusetts. Greenfield became the county seat in 1875, after battling out nearby Fontanelle for the title. The city was incorporated on May 22, 1876. Greenfield is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It is represented on Pittsburgh City Council by Corey O'Connor. Greenfield is a member of Pittsburgh's 15th Ward, which includes the neighborhoods of Greenfield and Four Mile Run. Greenfield is a town in Blaine County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 93 at the 2010 census. History The 80 original acres of Greenfield began as the homestead in 1899 of one George Evans. Somewhere in the 1900-1902 timeframe, the Choctaw Northern Railroad built through the area, its line running from Geary, Oklahoma to its termination at Anthony, Kansas. The railroad bought the farm from then-owners T.G. Curtner and J.M. Gray, proceeding to plat the town and sell lots. By 1913, the town had about 300 inhabitants, a newspaper (The Greenfield Hustler), a bank, a lumberyard, two livery barns, two grain elevators, a grist mill, a hotel, an opera house, and various merchants and contractors. Greenfield is a large village in Highland and Ross counties, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,639. Since the population declined to under 5,000, the Census Bureau may still call it a city, but by Ohio's laws it is technically deemed a village. Greenfield is most well known because of its rich history, including its community members helping in the underground railroad, new industries, and McClain High School. History Greenfield was named for its rural appearance. General Duncan McArthur founded the town in 1799. Greenfield has had many innovators, such as Edward Lee McClain who was well known for his detachable horse collar. The American Pad and Textile Company was created by McClain later in life. This company provided job opportunities for Greenfield, and created products such as the life vest used in World War II.
