Greenfield, Mississippi
Greenfield (also Green) is an unincorporated community in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States. The settlement is named for S. Green, an early settler. Greenfield had a post office from 1891 to 1935. An early railway line, owned by the Jackson & Brandon Railroad & Bridge Company, was built through Greenfield in the 1830s. Rankin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The western border of the county is formed by the Pearl River. As of the 2010 census, the population was 141,617, making it the fourth-most populous county in Mississippi. The county seat is Brandon. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau.
