Greenburgh
Greenburgh is a town in western Westchester County, New York. The population was 95,397 at the time of the 2020 census. History Greenburgh developed along the Hudson River, long the main transportation route. It was settled by northern Europeans in its early years, primarily of Dutch and English descent. Residents were active during the American Revolutionary War. The Romer-Van Tassel House served as the first town hall, from 1793 into the early 19th century. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. Other locations on the National Register are the Church of St. Joseph of Arimathea and Odell House. The Spanish American War Monument to the 71st Infantry Regiment in Mount Hope Cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. Tarrytown, New York
Tarrytown is a village in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County, New York. It is located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, approximately north of Midtown Manhattan in New York City, and is served by a stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. To the north of Tarrytown is the village of Sleepy Hollow (formerly "North Tarrytown"), to the south the village of Irvington and to the east unincorporated parts of Greenburgh. The Tappan Zee Bridge crosses the Hudson at Tarrytown, carrying the New York State Thruway (Interstates 87 and 287) to South Nyack, Rockland County and points in Upstate New York. Odell House
The Odell House is a historic home located at Greenburgh, Westchester County, New York, United States. During the American Revolutionary War, the Odell farm served as headquarters of Count de Rochambeau and campsite for the French expeditionary forces under his command from July 6 to August 18, 1781. Description and history The house consists of a -story central section erected in 1732, with flanking wings. The east wing was built in 1765 as a -story structure and raised to a full two stories in 1785. The central section and east wing are of wood-frame construction, covered with cedar wood shingles, and rest on a fieldstone foundation. The 2-story stone west wing was built between 1853 and 1855. Romer-Van Tassel House
Romer-Van Tassel House is a historic home located at Greenburgh, Westchester County, New York. It was built in 1793 and is a -story, rectangular stone dwelling, topped by a gable roof. The coursed stone foundation may be the remains of an earlier dwelling and date to about 1684. The house was renovated in the 1920s and the -story wood-frame kitchen wing dates to that time. Spanish American War Monument To The 71st Infantry Regiment
Spanish American War Monument to the 71st Infantry Regiment is a historic war memorial located in Mount Hope Cemetery at Greenburgh, Westchester County, New York. It was built in 1901 at the 71st Infantry Regiment burial plot, and is an 18 feet square and 18 feet high, Quincy granite structure in the Neoclassical style. It has granite steps, wrought and cast iron double entrance doors, and a square cupola. A second set of steps was built in 1905. Scarsdale is a town and village in Westchester County, New York, United States. The Town of Scarsdale is coextensive with the Village of Scarsdale, but the community has opted to operate solely with a village government, one of several villages in the state that have a similar governmental situation. As of the 2020 census, Scarsdale's population was 18,253. History Colonial era Caleb Heathcote purchased land that would become Scarsdale at the end of the 17th century and, on March 21, 1701, had it elevated to a royal manor. Tappan Zee Bridge (2017–present)
The Tappan Zee Bridge, officially named the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, is a twin cable-stayed bridge spanning the Hudson River between Tarrytown and Nyack in the U.S. state of New York. It was built to replace the original Tappan Zee Bridge, which was located just to the south. The new bridge's north span carries the northbound and westbound automobile traffic of the New York State Thruway, Interstate 87 (I-87) and I-287; it also carries a shared use path for bicycles and pedestrians. The south span carries southbound and eastbound automobile traffic. The process to replace the original bridge kicked off in 2012, with construction on the new spans beginning by contractor Tappan Zee Constructors in 2013. Orangetown is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States, located in the southeastern part of the county. South Nyack, New York
South Nyack is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Orangetown in Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Grand View-on-Hudson, northeast of Orangeburg, east of Blauvelt State Park, south of Nyack and west of the Hudson River.
