Green Party
A green party is a formally organized political party based on the principles of green politics, such as social justice, environmentalism and nonviolence. Greens believe that these issues are inherently related to one another as a foundation for world peace. Green party platforms typically embrace social-democratic economic policies and form coalitions with other left-wing parties. Green parties exist in nearly 90 countries around the world, many of which are members of Global Greens. Definitions There are distinctions between "green" parties and "Green" parties. Any party, faction, or politician may be labeled "green" if it emphasizes environmental causes. Green Party Of New Brunswick
The Green Party of New Brunswick (french: Parti vert du Nouveau-Brunswick) was formed in November 2008 to run in provincial elections. It is a registered Green political party in New Brunswick, Canada. A founding convention was held on November 15, 2008, in Moncton where the membership adopted a constitution, and a charter of principles to guide the development of policies and platforms. A 12-member Executive Committee was elected. On September 19, 2009, Jack MacDougall was acclaimed as the first nominated leader of the party. A community and political organizer, MacDougall is best known for his successful campaign to raise the money to purchase and renovate Saint John's Imperial Theatre. He is a licensed teacher in New Brunswick and stepped down as leader in September 2011. Greta Doucet served as interim leader until the leadership convention in the fall of 2012. The Green Party ( cs, Strana zelených, lit=Party of Greens) is a green political party in the Czech Republic. History The Green party was founded in 1990 following the return to liberal democracy in Czechia following the Velvet Revolution. However, the party remained on the political margins until Jaromír Štětina was able to capture a seat in the Senate (upper house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic) in 2004. It was during this time that the Greens campaigned on pacificism (rejecting the idea that any foreign military power should have military bases in the Czech Republic) and greater incorporation of grassroots democracy in the country. The Oxygen Green Party ( es, Partido Verde Oxígeno) is a political party in Colombia founded in 1998. After Íngrid Betancourt, one of its most prominent members, was kidnapped in 2002, the party's popular support began to fade. Yukon Green Party
The Yukon Green Party (french: Parti vert du Yukon) was a territorial green political party in Yukon, Canada. It was inspired by the Green Party of Canada. Its first leader was Kristina Calhoun, a stay-at-home mother, who has lived in Yukon since 2006. The party began at a meeting in November 2010, and was registered in February 2011. Frank de Jong led the party as its interim leader in the 2016 general election. Its platform in that election included electoral reform, legalizing marijuana, ending public funding for Catholic schools, and introducing a carbon tax in Yukon that would be offset by monthly refund payments to Yukoners. Frank de Jong has since moved out of Yukon. The party wanted to elect a new leader at a future annual general meeting, but ultimately failed to do so. The Saskatchewan Green Party is a political party in Saskatchewan, Canada. The Green Party was founded in 1998 as the "New Green Alliance" ''(NGA)'' by environmental and social justice activists dismayed with the premiership of the Saskatchewan NDP's Roy Romanow. The NGA ran on an environmentally-focused and social democratic platform to the NDP's left in the 1999 and 2003 elections.
