Greed
Greed (or avarice) is an uncontrolled longing for increase in the acquisition or use of material gain (be it food, money, land, or animate/inanimate possessions); or social value, such as Social status, status, or Power (social and political), power. Greed has been identified as undesirable throughout known human history because it creates behavior-conflict between personal and social goals. Nature of greed The initial motivation for (or purpose of) greed and actions associated with it may be the promotion of personal or family survival. It may at the same time be an intent to deny or obstruct competitors from potential means (for basic survival and comfort) or future opportunities; therefore being insidious or Tyranny, tyrannical and having a negative connotation. Psychomachia
The ''Psychomachia'' (''Battle of Spirits'' or ''Soul War'') is a poem by the Late Antique Latin poet Prudentius, from the early fifth century AD. It has been considered to be the first and most influential "pure" medieval allegory, the first in a long tradition of works as diverse as the ''Romance of the Rose'', ''Everyman'' and ''Piers Plowman''; however, a manuscript discovered in 1931 of a speech by the second-century academic skeptic philosopher Favorinus employs psychomachia, suggesting that he may have invented the technique. In slightly less than a thousand lines, the poem describes the conflict of vices and virtues as a battle in the style of Virgil's ''Aeneid''. Christian faith is attacked by and defeats pagan idolatry to be cheered by a thousand Christian martyrs. Greedy Algorithm
A greedy algorithm is any algorithm that follows the problem-solving heuristic of making the locally optimal choice at each stage. In many problems, a greedy strategy does not produce an optimal solution, but a greedy heuristic can yield locally optimal solutions that approximate a globally optimal solution in a reasonable amount of time. For example, a greedy strategy for the travelling salesman problem (which is of high computational complexity) is the following heuristic: "At each step of the journey, visit the nearest unvisited city." This heuristic does not intend to find the best solution, but it terminates in a reasonable number of steps; finding an optimal solution to such a complex problem typically requires unreasonably many steps. Farkle, or Farkel, is a dice game similar to or synonymous with 1000/5000/10000, Cosmic Wimpout, Greed, Hot Dice, Squelch, Zilch, or Zonk. Its origins as a folk game are unknown, but the game dates back to at least the mid-1980s. It has been marketed commercially since 1996 under the brand name Pocket Farkel by Legendary Games Inc. ''Tuonela'' is the fourth full-length album by Finnish metal band Amorphis. This marks the first album by the band to feature Santeri Kallio on keyboards who performed as a session member and joined the band after in 1998. The album is named from Tuonela, the realm of the dead in Finnish mythology. The album also shares inspiration with many of the band's productions in the text and themes of the Kalevala, or Finnish Epic. This album was the last release with original and long time bassist, Olli-Pekka Laine, until his return on 2018's '' Queen of Time''. ''Contradictions Collapse'' is the debut studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Meshuggah. The album was released in 1991 by Nuclear Blast. ''Contradictions Collapse'' was originally titled ''(All This Because of) Greed''. The album leans more towards a thrash metal and alternative metal sound than the band's later works, featuring heavy riffs and influences of hip hop and industrial dance in the drum patterns. It was re-released as a digipak with an incomplete version of Meshuggah's second EP, ''None'', in 1998, with no liner notes or lyrics included in the booklet.
