Korfball European Bowl
The European Bowl was the Korfball European Championship "B", played by the countries that have not qualified for the European Korfball Championship. The best teams of these tournaments often won the right to participate in the next European Korfball Championship and/or Korfball World Championship. History In 2005, the International Korfball Federation named the trophy for the European Bowl championship after Jan Hanekroot, one of its longest serving development officers and promoters, who died earlier that year. The tournament was last held in 2013, when the International Korfball Federation decided to create a new system which will be in force from 2018, reducing the number of teams taking part in the European Korfball Championship from 16 to 8 but splitting the championship up in two levels with a relegation/promotion system to be carried out between the so-called "A-Championships" (the current European Korfball Championship) and the "B-Championships". Korfball
Korfball ( nl, korfbal) is a ball sport, with similarities to netball and basketball. It is played by two teams of eight players with four female players and four male players in each team. The objective is to throw a ball into a netless basket that is mounted on a high pole. The sport was invented by Dutch school teacher Nico Broekhuysen in 1902. In the Netherlands there are approximately 500 clubs and more than 90,000 people playing korfball. The sport is also played in Belgium and Taiwan, and in nearly 70 other countries. History In 1902 Nico Broekhuysen, a Dutch school teacher from Amsterdam, was sent to Nääs, a town in Sweden, to follow an educational course about teaching gymnastics to children. This is where he was introduced to the Swedish game "ringboll". In ringboll one could score points by throwing the ball through a ring that was attached to a 3 m pole. 2007 Korfball European Bowl
2007 Korfball European Bowl is the European Championship "B" of korfball played by the countries that have not qualified for the World Championships. It was split into two divisions, Western and Eastern. The champions of both divisions played the final during the 2007 Korfball World Championship and the winner was Slovakia. Western division The western division was played in Luxembourg, on May 12 and 13, with the participation of 6 national teams and the winner was Wales. It was the first official performance for some of the national teams: Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and the international debut of Sweden. Luxembourg and France were the two other participants. Eastern division The Eastern division was played in Serbia, on June 16 and 17, with the participation of 5 national teams and the winner was Slovakia. 2009 Korfball European Bowl
The 2009 Korfball European Bowl was the qualifying competition for the 2010 European Korfball Championship, split into two divisions: West, in Luxembourg, and East, in Prievidza (Slovakia). 3 best teams of each division will join the 10 qualified-teams-by-ranking for competing in the European Championship. East division The East Division took place in Prievidza (Slovakia) from 31 October to 1 November and the winners were Slovakia. Serbia and Turkey were qualified for European Championships too.Turkey, Serbia and Slovakia qualify for European Championships

Papendrecht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland, at the crossing of the River Beneden Merwede and the Noord River.
