Great Totham
Great Totham is a village and civil parish in Maldon district, Essex, England, and midway between Chelmsford and Colchester. The village includes the Island of Osea in the Blackwater estuary and is separated into two parts, north and south. The north side and the south side are about a mile and a half apart, distributed along the B1022. The parish contains the hamlet of Totham Hill. History According to the old maps, before the time of the enclosures, the outskirts of Great Totham North were part of Tiptree Heath, which was then a haunt of smugglers, attested in the name of a house in Mountains Road called Spirits Hall. The 'mountain' in question is Beacon Hill which at is one of the highest points in the count village of Great Totham is St Peter's Church which dates to Norman times. Maldon (district)
Maldon is a local government district in Essex, England. The council is based in Maldon, and the district includes other notable settlements such as Burnham-on-Crouch, Heybridge, Wickham Bishops, Southminster, Tolleshunt D'Arcy and Tollesbury. The district covers the Dengie peninsula in the south, as well as the Thurstable Hundred area to the north of the Blackwater Estuary, a total area of 358.78 km2. Rotherham
Rotherham () is a large minster and market town in South Yorkshire, England. The town takes its name from the River Rother which then merges with the River Don. The River Don then flows through the town centre. It is the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham. Hatfield Peverel Railway Station
Hatfield Peverel railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line in the East of England, serving the villages of Hatfield Peverel and Nounsley, Essex. It is down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between to the west and and to the east. Its three-letter station code is HAP. The station is managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving it, as part of the East Anglia franchise. History The original Hatfield Peverel station was opened in late 1844 but was destroyed by fire in early 1849. Witham Railway Station
Witham railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line (GEML) in the East of England, serving the town of Witham, Essex. It is about half a mile (1 km) to the north of the town centre and is down the line from London Liverpool Street. On the GEML Witham is situated between to the west and to the east. It is the junction for the Braintree Branch Line to the east which opened in 1848, and between 1848 and 1964 it was also the junction for a west-facing branch line to Maldon. Colchester General Hospital
Colchester Hospital is a district general hospital located in Colchester, Essex. It is managed by East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital, then named Colchester District General Hospital, was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 20 May 1985. At the time, it had nine wards and 283 beds, built in groups around landscaped courtyards. The hospital has been expanded a number of times since its opening, and several new buildings have been added. This includes the Gainsborough wing, which opened in 2000. Broomfield Hospital is an acute district general hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. It is managed by the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital, originally known as Essex County Hospital, was designed as a hospital for the treatment of tuberculosis patients and was built between June 1937 and 1940. It had "butterfly" wings that caught the sun for the benefit of the patients.
