GreTai Securities Market
Taipei Exchange (), formerly the Gre Tai Securities Market (GTSM), is a foundation which is organized for serving the over-the-counter (OTC) market and bond trading of Taiwan. It was formally founded on 1 November 1994. The initial fund of the foundation was donated by the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taiwan Securities Association, and Taiwan Depository & Clearing. Its headquarters is in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei City. In February 2015, the Gre Tai Securities Market changed its name to Taipei Exchange. The exchange has normal trading sessions from 9 am to 2 pm and post-market sessions from 2 pm to 2.30 pm on all days of the week except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance. Over-the-counter (OTC) or off-exchange trading or pink sheet trading is done directly between two parties, without the supervision of an exchange (organized market), exchange. It is contrasted with exchange trading, which occurs via exchanges. A stock exchange has the benefit of facilitating liquidity, providing transparency, and maintaining the current market price. In an OTC trade, the price is not necessarily publicly disclosed. OTC trading, as well as exchange trading, occurs with commodities, financial instruments (including stocks), and derivative (finance), derivatives of such products. Taiwan Stock Exchange
The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE; ) is a financial institution, located in Taipei 101, in Taipei, Taiwan. The TWSE was established in 1961 and began operating as a stock exchange on 9 February 1962. It is regulated by the Financial Supervisory Commission. As of 31 December 2013, the Taiwan Stock Exchange had 809 listed companies with a combined market capitalization of NT$ 24,519,622 million. The exchange broadcasts before-hour information from 7:40 to 8:40. Then it has normal trading sessions from 09:00 to 13:45 and fixed price post-market sessions from 14:00 to 15:00 on all days of the week except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays declared by the exchange in advance.
