Grațian Sepi (born 30 December 1910 in Vălcani, Austria-Hungary (now in Romania) – deceased 6 March 1977) was a Romanian footballer who played as a striker. Biography International career While playing in Liga I for Universitatea Cluj, he was picked for the Romania national football team by the joint coaches, Austrian Josef Uridil and Romanian Costel Rădulescu, to play in the 1934 World Cup in Italy. The team was eliminated in the first round after a 2–1 defeat to Czechoslovakia. Vălcani
Vălcani (often spelled Valcani; hu, Valkány; german: Walkan; sr, Валкањ, Valkanj) is a communes of Romania, commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of a single village, Vălcani. An independent commune from 1877 to 1968, it was a village of Dudeștii Vechi commune from that year until 2005, when it again became independent. Geography Vălcani is located in the west of Timiș County, in the Aranca Plain, on the border with Serbia. It is comprised between Dudeștii Vechi commune in the east and north and Teremia Mare commune in the south. It is located 82 km from Timișoara and about 20 km from Sânnicolau Mare, the nearest town. The surface hydrographic network is represented by the Aranca River and the older branches of the Mureș River, Mureșan and Țiganca streams. The 1934 FIFA World Cup was the second edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football championship for senior men's national teams. It took place in Italy from 27 May to 10 June 1934. The 1934 World Cup was the first in which teams had to qualify to take part. The Balkan Cup was an international association football competition contested on and off from 1929 to 1980 by countries from the Balkans region. The most successful team was Romania with four titles. Overview The first edition featured Romania, Greece, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria and was played over three years from 1929 to 1931. All teams played each other twice, home and away, and were awarded 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw, with final ranking table determining the winner. Romania won the first title with a game in hand after beating Yugoslavia 4–2. In the following tournaments the system saw significant changes, with teams playing each other only once, and instead of taking three years to complete it was shortened to just a single week.
