Gravelle Craig
Gravelle Craig (born June 10, 1970) is a college basketball coach, currently serving as an assistant coach at Canisius University. From 2011 to 2017, Craig was the head coach for the Bethune-Cookman University men's basketball team. He is a former college basketball player (Richmond / Cleveland State). Head coaching career The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats started slow winning only four out of their first fifteen games, a (4–11) start. Bethune-Cookman's strong showing (14-6) in the next twenty games gave Craig an 18–17 mark for his first season. They advanced to the MEAC Conference Championship game for the first and only time in school history. This would be the fourth consecutive winning season for the Wildcats. Cleveland State Vikings Men's Basketball
Cleveland State Vikings men's basketball is the men's college basketball team that represents Cleveland State University. Prior to rebranding from Fenn College, they were known as the Fenn College Foxes. Cleveland State has been in Division I since 1972. The 2013–14 Bethune–Cookman Wildcats men's basketball team represented Bethune–Cookman University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 2016–17 Bethune–Cookman Wildcats men's basketball team represented Bethune-Cookman University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wildcats, led by sixth-year head coach Gravelle Craig, played their home games at the Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach, Florida as members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 10–22, 6–10 in MEAC play to finish in tenth place. They defeated Delaware State before losing in the quarterfinals of the MEAC tournament to North Carolina Central. On March 20, 2017, it was announced that head coach Gravelle Craig's contract would not be renewed. He finished at Bethune–Cookman with a six-year record of 74–123. 2016–17 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Season
The 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 11, 2016. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic, and ended with the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona on April 3, 2017. Practices officially began on September 30, 2016. Rule changes The only rule change for the regular season was allowing coaches to ask for timeouts in situations of inbounds on offense or defense. Coaches are still not permitted to call timeouts in live-ball situations. The NCAA approved a number of experimental rule changes for use in the 2017 postseason NIT: * Team fouls were reset to zero at the 10:00 mark of each half.
