Graphidaceae
The Graphidaceae are a family of lichens in the order Ostropales. Distribution and ecology The vast majority of Graphidaceae species are restricted to the tropics. Most Graphidaceae species are epiphytic (i.e. they grow only on plants). Genera A recent (2020) estimates places 31 genera and about 990 species in Graphidaceae. The following list indicates the genus name, the taxonomic authority, year of publication, and the number of species: *'' Acanthothecis'' – 5 spp. *'' Acanthotrema'' – 1 sp. *'' Aggregatorygma'' – 1 sp. *'' Allographa'' – 183 spp. *'' Amazonotrema'' – 1 sp. *'' Ampliotrema'' – 1 sp. *'' Anomalographis'' – 2 spp. *'' Anomomorpha'' – 8 spp. *'' Astrochapsa'' – 29 spp. *'' Austrotrema'' – 3 spp. *'' Borinquenotrema'' – 1 sp. *'' Byssotrema'' – 1 sp. *'' Carbacanthographis'' – 22 spp. *'' Chapsa'' – 51 spp. *'' Chroodiscus'' – 17 spp. *'' Clandestinotrema'' – 17 spp. *'' Compositrema'' – 4 spp. *'' Corticorygma' ...

Cruentotrema
''Cruentotrema'' is a genus of corticolous (bark-dwelling) lichens in the family Graphidaceae. It has seven species. Taxonomy The genus was circumscribed in 2012 by Rivas Plata, Papong, H. Thorsten Lumbsch, and Robert Lücking, with '' Cruentotrema cruentatum'' assigned as the type species. This enigmatic lichen had previously been described three times under different names: as ''Stictis cruentata'' , as ''Arthothelium puniceum'' , and as ''Thelotrema rhododiscum'' . Molecular phylogenetics revealed its true affinities in the subfamily ''Fissurinoideae'' of the family Graphidaceae. The genus name combines the species epithet of the type species with the suffix ''-trema''. Three species were included in the original circumscription of the genus. Description Characteristics of the genus include rounded, erumpent ascomata, a carbonised (blackened) excipulum, the absence of a columella, and inamyloid asci and hamathecium. The ascospores of ''Cruentotrema'' lichens number eight pe ...

Astrochapsa
''Astrochapsa'' is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the subfamily Graphidoideae of the family Graphidaceae. It has 28 species. The genus was circumscribed by Sittiporn Parnmen, Robert Lücking, and H. Thorsten Lumbsch in 2012, with '' Astrochapsa astroidea'' assigned as the type species. It was segregated from the genus '' Chapsa'', from which it differs in having a more frequently densely corticate thallus, an apothecial margin that is mostly recurved, and the almost exclusively subdistoseptate (with slightly thickened septa and angular lumina), non-amyloid ascospore An ascus (; ) is the sexual spore-bearing cell produced in ascomycete fungi. Each ascus usually contains eight ascospores (or octad), produced by meiosis followed, in most species, by a mitotic cell division. However, asci in some genera or s ...s. Aggregatorygma
''Aggregatorygma'' is a small genus of lichenized fungi in the family Graphidaceae. It was circumscribed in 2014 by Marcela Cáceres, André Aptroot, and Robert Lücking as a monotypic genus, with ''Aggregatorygma triseptatum'' as its only species. Two species have since been added: ''Aggregatorygma submuriforme'' in 2020 and ''Aggregatorygma lichexanthonicum'' in 2022, both by Aptroot. The genus name is a combination of two words. ''Aggregato'' is from the Latin word meaning "aggregated", while ''rygma'' is from the Ancient Greek word ''ρήγμα'', meaning "crack". Species in the genus are corticolous, growing on the bark of tree trunks in rainforest Rainforests are characterized by a closed and continuous tree canopy, moisture-dependent vegetation, the presence of epiphytes and lianas and the absence of wildfire. Rainforest can be classified as tropical rainforest or temperate rainfores .... All three species were first discovered in Brazil. References Sources * ...

Amazonotrema
''Amazonotrema'' is a monotypic genus of lichenised fungi in the family Graphidaceae. It was circumscribed in 2009 by Klaus Kalb and Robert Lücking for the species ''Amazonotrema nigrum''. The type specimen of ''A. nigrum'' was collected from virgin rainforest along the Rio Negro in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. Taxonomy The genus name is a combination of ''Amazon'', for the Amazon basin region from which the type specimen was collected, and ''trema'', for the systematic position of the genus within the family Graphidaceae; it falls into the "thelotremoid" group because of the structure of its fruiting bodies (). , it had not been genetically sequenced, so its relationship to other genera in the family is uncertain. Description ''Amazonotrema nigrum'' is a crustose lichen with a smooth, grey, and somewhat glossy surface, and it grows on tree bark, stripped wood and tree fern stems. Unlike most plant-dwelling lichens (but like many other tropical, crustose lichens), ...
