Granville Gulf Reservation
Granville Gulf Reservation protects on either side of a six-mile section of Vermont Route 100 in Granville, Vermont. The area is managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation and traverses the Granville Notch. Granville, Vermont
Granville is a town in Addison County, Vermont, United States. The population was 301 at the 2020 census. The town was originally called Kingston but was renamed in 1833. Granville was one of thirteen Vermont towns isolated by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011. Geography Granville is located in the eastern corner of Addison County. The villages of Granville and Lower Granville are located in a valley in the center of the town, with the Northfield Mountains rising to the east and the main crest of the Green Mountains rising to the west. Vermont Route 100 runs north-south through the main valley in the town, passing through Granville Notch in the northern part of the town before beginning its descent to the north into Warren. Addison County is a county located in the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 37,363. Its shire town (county seat) is the town of Middlebury. History Iroquois settled in the county before Europeans arrived in 1609. French settlers in Crown Point, New York extended their settlements across Lake Champlain. Vermont Route 100 (VT 100) is a north–south state highway in Vermont in the United States. Running through the center of the state, it travels nearly the entire length of Vermont and is long. VT 100 is the state's longest numbered highway of any type. Route description The southern terminus of the route is at the Massachusetts state line in Stamford, where it continues south as Route 8. Its northern terminus is at VT 105 in the town of Newport, which lies on the Canadian border. Granville Notch, or Granville Gulf, is a notch, or mountain pass, located in Granville, Vermont, Granville, Vermont. North of the height of land, the notch is the Source (river or stream), source of the Mad River (Vermont), Mad River, which drains into the Winooski River, and into Lake Champlain.
