Grant Tinker
Grant Almerin Tinker (January 11, 1926 – November 28, 2016) was an American television executive who was chairman and CEO of NBC from 1981 to 1986. Additionally, he was a co-founder of MTM Enterprises and a television producer. Early life Tinker was born in Stamford, Connecticut, the middle child of Margaret (née Hessin) and Arthur Almerin Tinker. He had an elder sister, Phyllis (1924–2006), and a younger sister, Joan. During World War II, Tinker served in the United States Army Air Forces Reserve. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1949. Career Shortly after graduation, Tinker joined NBC as an executive trainee, but left in 1954. The George Foster Peabody Awards (or simply Peabody Awards or the Peabodys) program, named for the American businessman and philanthropist George Foster Peabody, George Peabody, honor what are described as the most powerful, enlightening, and invigorating stories in all of television, radio, and online media. Because of their academic affiliation and reputation for discernment, the awards are held in high esteem within the media industry. It is the oldest major electronic media award in the United States. Nielsen Media Research (NMR) is an American firm that measures media audiences, including television, radio, theatre, films (via the AMC Theatres MAP program), and newspapers. Allan Pennington Burns (May 18, 1935January 30, 2021) was an American screenwriter and television producer. He was best known for co-creating and writing for the television sitcoms ''The Munsters'' and ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show''. Early life Burns was born in Baltimore on May 18, 1935. His father died when he was nine years old. Three years later, he moved to Honolulu with his mother after his older brother was assigned to Naval Station Pearl Harbor. He attended Punahou School and illustrated a cartoon that featured several times a week in the ''Honolulu Star-Bulletin''. He studied architecture at the University of Oregon starting in 1953, after being awarded a partial scholarship.
