Grant County is a county (United States), county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population was 51,938. Its county seat is Lancaster, Wisconsin, Lancaster. The county is named after the Grant River, in turn named after a fur trader who lived in the area when Wisconsin was a Wisconsin Territory, territory. Grant County comprises the Platteville, Wisconsin, Platteville, WI Micropolitan Statistical Area. Grant County Courthouse (Wisconsin)
The Grant County Courthouse, built in 1902, is an historic glass-and-copper-domed county courthouse building located at 126 West Main Street in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Designed by Armand D. Koch in the Classical Revival architecture, Classical Revival style, it was built of red sandstone. Murals decorating the four spandrels under the dome were done by Franz E. Rohrbeck.Franz Edward Rohrbeck of Milwaukee painted four murals under the dome of the Grant County Courthouse in Lancaster, Wisconsin, six murals at the Martin County Courthouse (Fairmont, Minnesota), Martin County Courthouse in Fairmont, Minnesota, and murals at the Green County Courthouse (Monroe, Wisconsin), Green County Courthouse in Monroe, Wisconsin. Meskwaki
The Meskwaki (sometimes spelled Mesquaki), also known by the European exonyms Fox Indians or the Fox, are a Native American people. They have been closely linked to the Sauk people of the same language family. In the Meskwaki language, the Meskwaki call themselves ', which means "the Red-Earths", related to their creation story. Historically their homelands were in the Great Lakes region. The tribe coalesced in the St. Lawrence River Valley in present-day Ontario, Canada. Under French colonial pressures, it migrated to the southern side of the Great Lakes to territory that much later was organized by European Americans as the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. WIS 133
State Trunk Highway 133 (often called Highway 133, STH-133 or WIS 133) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It runs in north–south in south central Wisconsin from near Tennyson to near Lone Rock. Route description Starting at US 61/WIS 35 in Tennyson, WIS 133 begins to travel westward along with the Great River Road. After passing through Potosi, both WIS 133 and the Great River Road then traverses southwestward and then westward along the Mississippi River. In Cassville, they intersect WIS 81. They then turn northward after leaving Cassville, passing through North Andover. In Bloomington, they then meet WIS 35 again. It runs north–south in southwest and west central Wisconsin from just south of Marshfield, near the geographic center of the state to the Illinois border near Hazel Green. US 151 (WI)
U.S. Highway 151 (US 151) is a United States Numbered Highway that runs through the states of Iowa and Wisconsin. The southern terminus for US 151 is at a junction with Interstate 80 (I-80) in Iowa County, Iowa, and its northern terminus is at Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The route, from south to north follows a northeasterly path through the two states. US 151 is an important corridor- connecting Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin with an expressway (except for a segment about ten miles where it uses arterial roads instead in Madison, Wisconsin).
