Grammostola Burzaquensis
''Grammostola'' is a genus of South American tarantulas that was first described in text by Eugène Louis Simon in 1892. These medium- to large-sized spiders are native to tropical South America, and are usually brown in color, with pinkish or orangish-red hairs. The very docile Chilean rose tarantulas (''Grammostola rosea'' and ''Grammostola porteri'') are popular as a beginner's spider among tarantula enthusiasts.Muller-Esnault, Susan, DVM. It needs to be kept dry and dislikes being wet (its natural habitat is one of the driest deserts on earth). If the substrate is too wet, it will stand "on tiptoes" in discomfort, or climb the sides of its enclosure, risking fall and injury. It feeds on other ...

Grammostola Porteri
''Grammostola porteri'', also known as the common Rose hair tarantula or Chilean tarantula, is a frequently encountered species in the modern keeping hobby. Grammostola porteri are considered mostly docile but individuality and temperament between specimens varies greatly based on an array of factors. This species gains much of its notoriety from its large size and low maintenance, while also being relatively inexpensive. This animal was one of the first introduced arachnids in the wildlife trade so they are popular as pets. This tarantula is endemic to Chile. In captivity, this animal should be kept with relatively deep substrate, foliage, a water dish and a starter burrow. ''Grammostola porteri'' is a species of tarantula described in 1936. References

Grammostola Grossa
''Grammostola grossa'', the Guarani giant tarantula, is a tarantula that, like all species of the genus ''Grammostola'', is native to South America. It occurs in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. The species was described in 1871 by the Austrian Anton Ausserer, but only received its trivial name Guarani giant Tarantula in the 21st century by the anthropologist Nils Seethaler. The name was given to the spider because of its abundance in the Guarani settlement area, whose agriculture and the associated clearing of forests extended its range. Characteristics With a body length of up to 8 cm it is one of the larger representatives of tarantulas. It has a black-brown ground colour and brown hairs. Like all ''Grammostola'' species, it has a clearly visible stinging hair on the abdomen (Opisthosoma), so it belongs to the so-called "bombardier spiders", which can defend themselves with stinging hairs. Females are said to be able to live up to 25 years.Peter Klaas: ''Vogelspinnen ...
