Grace Vollmer
Grace Libby Vollmer (née Grace Libby; 1884 – 1977) was an American painter, she was active in California and Idaho. She was a California Impressionist and painted still lifes, figures, portraits, and landscapes. Biography Grace Libby was born on September 12, 1884 in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and she grew up in Chelsea, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Anne Lorraine (née Young) and Edgar Howard Libby, both parents had roots in New England going back to the 17th century. She attended Howard Seminary and later attended the Quincy Mansion School for Girls in Wollaston Park, Massachusetts. Her family moved to Clarkston, Washington (near Lewiston, Idaho), where she later joined them. In 1906, she married Ralston Vollmer from Idaho. Both the Libby family and Vollmer family were active in the early development of the city of Lewiston, Idaho. Hopkinton, Massachusetts
Hopkinton is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States, west of Boston. The town is best known as the starting point of the Boston Marathon, held annually on Patriots' Day each April, and as the headquarters for the Dell EMC corporation. The California Art Club (CAC) is one of the oldest and most active arts organizations in California. Founded in December 1909, it celebrated its centennial in 2009 and into the spring of 2010. The California Art Club originally evolved out of The Painters Club of Los Angeles, a short-lived group that lasted from 1906–09. Anna Althea Hills
Anna Althea Hills (January 28, 1882 – June 13, 1930) was an American plein air painter who specialized in impressionist landscapes of the Southern California coast. Hills attended Olivet College, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. After her schooling, she worked for Arthur Wesley Dow. Hills traveled in Holland and England, attended the Academie Julian and studied with John Noble Barlow. She spent time in Lamorna Cove, home to many artists in the turn of the 20th century , including Samuel Lamorna Birch, and was with her brother, Willie Hills, at Inn cottage in the 1911 England Census. Edgar Alwin Payne (1 March 1883 – 8 April 1947) was an American painter. He was known as a Western landscape painter and muralist. Early life Payne was born near Cassville, Barry County, Missouri, in the heart of the Ozarks.. Cassville is in southwest Missouri, near the Arkansas border. According to the U.S. Census of 1900, he resided with his parents, two sisters and five brothers in Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkansas; his Alabama-born father was employed as a carpenter.
