Govinda Krishna Yachendra
Maharaja Lieut. Sir Velugoti Govinda Krishna Yachendra (1879–1937) was an Indian nobleman. He was the ''Maharaja'' of Venkatagiri in Nellore district from 1917 to 1937. He was the 29th ''Maharaja'' of Venkatagiri. He belonged to the royal Velugoti Dynasty of the Padmanayaka Velamas. Installation as King The Installation ceremony occurred on 1 February 1917. It was attended by several distinguished guests, some among them being the chief of Ceylon, the Padikura Mudaliyar, N. D. A. Sibra, Wijaya Singh, J. P. U. P. M. and Lama Etanis Wijaya Singhe, the late Honourable Rajahs of Bobbili, Bhadrachalam and Kalahasti. On the 26th of the same month His Excellency Lord Pentland, the then Governor of Madras paid a visit to Venkatagiri, and laid the Foundation Stone of the Gosha Hospital proposed to be built in the name of Her Imperial Majesty Queen Mary to remove the suffering of women. Rajagopala Krishna Yachendra
Maharaja Sir Rajagopala Krishna Yachendra (1857–1916) was an Indian nobleman and politician. He was the ''Maharaja'' of Venkatagiri in Nellore district from 1878 to 1916.He was the 28th ''Maharaja'' of Venkatagiri.M.L.C. (Madras) 1888 . He belonged to the royal Velugoti Dynasty of the Padmanayaka Velamas. He is known to have reformed and encouraged education during his tenure as M.L.C and even as the Maharajah of Venkatagiri . Maharaja
Mahārāja (; also spelled Maharajah, Maharaj) is a Sanskrit title for a "great ruler", "great king" or " high king". A few ruled states informally called empires, including ruler raja Sri Gupta, founder of the ancient Indian Gupta Empire, and Chandragupta Maurya. The Venkatagiri estate was an estate in the erstwhile Madras Presidency. It was located in the Nellore district of the present-day Andhra Pradesh. The town of Venkatagiri was the administrative headquarters. History Medieval times The kingdom was founded circa 1208 AD by Warrior King Velugoti Recharla Bhetala Naidu and existed since the time of Kakatiyas during the reign of Kakati Ganapathi Deva Rai. Later the kingdom was a feudatory under Vijaynagar Empire Under Vijaynagar Empire Once part of Vijayanagar Empire the kingdom was reestablished by Velugoti Rayudappa Nayani in 1600. John Sinclair, 1st Baron Pentland
John Sinclair, 1st Baron Pentland, (7 July 1860 – 11 January 1925) was a Scottish Liberal Party politician, soldier, peer, administrator and Privy Councillor who served as the Secretary of Scotland from 1905 to 1912 and the Governor of Madras from 1912 to 1919. Baron Pentland was born John Sinclair to George Sinclair (1826-1871) son of Sir John Sinclair, 6th baronet of Dunbeath. He studied in the United Kingdom and in 1892, entered the House of Commons as an elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Dunbartonshire. He was elected for a second term from Forfar in 1897 and served in the British Parliament from 1892 to 1895 and 1897 to 1909. He also served as an Aide-de-Camp and secretary to Lord Aberdeen. Sinclair was appointed to the Privy Council in 1905. He served as the Secretary for Scotland from 1905 to 1912 and as the Governor of Madras from 1912 to 1919. He died in 1925.
