The governor of Cebu ( fil, Punong Lalawigan ng Cebu) is the chief executive of the provincial government of Cebu, Philippines. The first governor appointed by the Spanish Crown was Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, and during the American Era, Julio Llorente became governor on April 16, 1899, although Luis Flores and Arcadio Maxilom served in the same position in 1898 and 1899, respectively. The current governor is Gwendolyn Garcia, under PDP–Laban. She previously served as a member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, representing the third congressional district of Cebu from 2013 to 2019 and was the governor from 2004 to 2013. Gwendolyn Fiel Garcia (born October 12, 1955) is a Filipina politician serving as the governor of Cebu since 2019, a position she previously held from 2004 and 2013—being the first woman to hold that office. She was the representative of Cebu's 3rd congressional district from 2013 to 2019 and concurrently served as a House Deputy Speaker from 2016 to 2018. Sergio Osmeña
Sergio Osmeña Sr. (, ; 9 September 1878 – 19 October 1961) was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the fourth president of the Philippines from 1944 to 1946. He was vice president under Manuel L. Quezon. Upon Quezon's sudden death in 1944, Osmeña succeeded him at age 65, becoming the oldest person to assume the Philippine presidency until Rodrigo Duterte took office in 2016 at age 71. A founder of the Nacionalista Party, Osmeña was also the first Visayan to become president. Jose Delgado was a lawyer and politician from Cebu, Philippines who became mayor of Cebu City (1940–1942) and the governor of the province of Cebu (1943–1944), becoming the first person to have held both offices. Background Jose Delgado's parents were Marcelo Enriquez and Monica Delgado. After becoming a lawyer on October 15, 1923, he was appointed as mayor of Cebu City on August 3, 1940 upon the resignation of Vicente Rama who was running for the senatorial seat in the elections to be held on November 11, 1941. Delgado served as mayor until April 10, 1942, and he was replaced by Juan Zamora. Hilario "Dodong" Abellana (October 23, 1896 – January 15, 1945) was Filipino Visayan lawyer, politician and legislator from Cebu, Philippines. He was the municipal president of Cebu (1922), a member of the House Representative (1934–1935), a two-term member of the National Assembly (1935–1941), and governor of Cebu province during World War II (1941–1943).
