Gouri Choudhury
Gouri Choudhury ( bn, গৌরী চৌধুরী; born May 1964) is a Bangladeshi-born British singer and music teacher. Early life Choudhury was born into a musical family in Sylhet District, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). She started singing from the age of six. In 1984, Choudhury completed her Secondary School Certificate. In 1985, she attended Sylhet Academy of Fine Arts and gained a diploma in Folk Songs. She then studied at Sylhet Shilpakala Academy, where received a diploma in Music and her Higher School Certificate. She continued her education and went to Chittagong University in 1988, where she studied Bachelor of Arts. Career After finishing her education, Choudhury came to the United Kingdom and started to work from 1989. She has worked as a Bengali music teacher in various London schools. Sylhet District
Sylhet ( bn, সিলেট), located in north-east Bangladesh, is the divisional capital and one of the four districts in the Sylhet Division. History Sylhet district was established on 3 January 1782, and until 1878 it was part of Bengal Province under Dhaka Division. However, in that year, Sylhet was moved to the newly created Assam Province, and it remained as part of Assam up to 1947 (except during the administrative reorganisation of Bengal Province between 1905 and 1912). Sylhet district was divided into five subdivisions and the current Sylhet District was known as the North Sylhet subdivision. In 1947, Sylhet became a part of East Pakistan as a result of a referendum (except 3 thanas of Karimganj subdivision) as part of Chittagong Division. "Tattva" is a song by British psychedelic rock band Kula Shaker, released as the band's debut single. It was first released in the United Kingdom in 1996 as "Tattva (Lucky 13 Mix)", then re-issued on 24 June 1996 as a re-recording from their debut album, '' K'' (1996), with a different sleeve and track listing. Channel S
Channel S is a UK-based, free-to-air television channel targeting the British Bangladeshi community. The channel was established on 16 December 2004 by Mahee Ferdous Jalil, a Bangladeshi businessman in London. On Sky it at first had a timesharing deal with ATN Global, and then in 2005 began to broadcast for 24 hours, 7 days a week; it is currently available on Sky channel 777. The channel claims to be the "Voice of British Bangladeshis across the world", showing programmes suiting community needs. Its slogan is "Working for the community". The television station is based at Prestige House in Walthamstow, north-east London. It broadcasts programmes in Standard Bengali, Sylheti and a few in British English. ATN Bangla ( bn, এটিএন বাংলা), 'ATN' being the acronym of the unused Asian Television Network, is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel owned by Multimedia Production Company. It is based in the Kawran Bazar neighborhood of Dhaka. ATN Bangla is the first privately owned television channel and the first to broadcast on satellite in Bangladesh. The Boishakhi Mela ( bn, বৈশাখী মেলা, Boishakhi Mela, Fair of Boishakh) is a Bengali celebration ( mela) which takes place outside of Bangladesh. It is celebrated by the Bangladeshi diaspora in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada as well as many other countries with significant Bangladeshi populations. In London, it takes place across the area of Banglatown in Tower Hamlets. The festival runs through Brick Lane to Weavers Fields and Allen Gardens in Bethnal Green. ''Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts'' is the second album by the British Indie rock, indie and psychedelic rock Musical ensemble, band Kula Shaker. Recording Initial Studio recording, recording sessions for the album were Record producer, produced by John Leckie but the band soon decided to bring in producers George Drakoulias and Rick Rubin instead. Eventually Drakoulias and Rubin were rejected by the band and Bob Ezrin was brought in to complete the album. As a result of this, the production credits for the album's lead single, "Sound of Drums (song), Sound of Drums", name Drakoulias and Rubin as producers, while the rest of ''Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts'' is produced by Ezrin.
