Gottlieb "Godi" Stäuble (27 April 1929 – 24 April 2015) was a Swiss footballer who played in the late 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Peter-Jürgen Sanmann (5 August 1935 – 15 March 2016) was a German professional footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. He played as forward or winger. Career Club Sanmann played youth football with SC Concordia von 1907 in Hamburg. Playing for the amateur league team, he was nominated by national coach Sepp Herberger for the debut game of the newly launched junior national team (U–23) for the international match against Yugoslavia in Frankfurt on 25 June 1955. In the 3–3 draw, he played on the left wing and scored a goal. Sanmann signed his first professional contract with FC Basel's club chairman Jules Düblin. Silvan "Sämi" Thüler (1 August 1932 – 13 August 2011) was a Swiss international footballer. He played as a defender. After his football career he became restaurant landlord and later manager. Jules Düblin
Jules Düblin (30 August 1895 – 1992) was a Swiss footballer and athlete. He played for FC Basel, mainly as a forward. Later he was member of the FC Basel board of directors. He was doctor, banker and politician, became author and private art collector. Football career Between the years 1919 and 1926 Düblin played a total of 57 games for Basel scoring a total of 5 goals. 27 of these games were in the Swiss Serie A and 30 were friendly games. He scored four goals in the domestic league, the other was scored during the test games. Düblin was also member of the FC Basel board of directors. Hans Hügi, known as Hügi (I), (29 September 1926 - 1 February 2000) was a Swiss footballer who played twelve years for FC Basel and two seasons for Young Fellows Zürich as defender. Football career Between the years 1947 and 1959 Hügi (I) played a total of 296 games for Basel scoring a total of 56 goals. 226 of these games were in the Nationalliga A, 24 in the Swiss Cup and 76 were friendly games. He scored 38 goal in the domestic league, five in the Swiss Cup and the other 14 were scored during the test games. 1948–49 FC Basel Season
The 1948–49 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 55th season in their existence. It was their third season in the top flight of Swiss football after their promotion from the Nationalliga B during the season 1945–46. Basel played their home games in the Landhof, in the Quarter Kleinbasel. Jules Düblin was the club's chairman for the third successive season. Overview Ernst Hufschmid who had functioned as player-coach the previous season continued in the function as manager this season. Basel played a total of 36 games in this season.
