Gordon Lawson
Gordon Pirie Lawson (15 September 1899 – 13 September 1985) was a New Zealand rugby union player. He was educated at Timaru Main School and then Timaru Boys' High School. A first five-eighth, Lawson represented at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks The New Zealand national rugby union team, commonly known as the All Blacks ( mi, Ōpango), represents New Zealand in men's international rugby union, which is considered the country's national sport. Timaru (; mi, Te Tihi-o-Maru) is a port city in the southern Canterbury Region of New Zealand, located southwest of Christchurch and about northeast of Dunedin on the eastern Pacific coast of the South Island. Rugby Union Positions
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Timaru Boys' High School
Timaru Boys' High School (also known as TBHS), established in 1880, is a single sex state (public) secondary school located in the port city of Timaru, South Canterbury, New Zealand. TBHS caters for years 9 to 13 (ages 12 to 19 years). At the beginning of the 2017 school year, the school had more than 650 students. Traditions There are four houses, each named after a former rector and led by a house captain. Every one in the school competes in inter-house programs to earn points for their house. 1925 New Zealand Rugby Union Tour Of New South Wales
The 1925 New Zealand tour rugby to New South Wales was the 12th tour by the New Zealand national team to Australia. During the First World War the activity of Rugby Union was suspended. In Australia, the sport was initially reprised only in New South Wales (many players switched to Rugby league especially in Queensland), so official test matches between the two national sides were not resumed until 1929. The three most important matches were played against the New South Wales Waratahs, and New Zealand won the 3 match series 3–0.
