Gordon Drummond (cricketer)
Gordon David Drummond (born 21 April 1980) is a former Scottish international cricketer who made his One Day International (ODI) debut at the 2007 World Cup. A right-handed all-rounder from rural Perthshire, he took over the captaincy of the national side from Gavin Hamilton in 2010, and continued in the role until resigning in May 2013, retiring from international cricket completely later in the season. His younger sister, Annette Drummond Annette J. Drummond (born 21 October 1984) is a Scottish international cricketer who debuted for the Scottish national side in 2002. Meigle
Meigle ( gd, Mìgeil, ) is a village in Strathmore, Scotland. It lies in the council area of Perth and Kinross in the Coupar Angus and Meigle ward. It lies on the A94 road between Perth and Forfar. Other smaller settlements nearby are Balkeerie, Kirkinch and Kinloch. Meigle is accessed from the north and south via the B954 road. In 1971 it had a population of 357. Etymology The name ''Meigle'' is of Pictish origin. Recorded as ''Migdele'' in the Legend of Saint Andrew, the first element is ''*mig'', meaning "swamp, bog, quagmire", and the second is ''dol'', "field, meadow" (c.f. Welsh ''mig-dôl). All-rounder
An all-rounder is a cricketer who regularly performs well at both batting and bowling. Although all bowlers must bat and quite a handful of batsmen do bowl occasionally, most players are skilled in only one of the two disciplines and are considered specialists. Some wicket-keepers have the skills of a specialist batter and have been referred to as all-rounders, but the term ''wicket-keeper-batter'' is more commonly applied to them, even if they are substitute wicket keepers who also bowl. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Meigle Cricket Club Meigle Cricket Club is a cricket club in Meigle, Perthshire, Scotland. Established in 1876, it has won the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union, of which it was a founder member in 1929, on eight occasions 2022, 2019, 2014, 2001, 1998, 1980, 1961 and 1954. The club was second to Brechin in the inaugural season. The 1st XI played in the Cricket Scotland Eastern Premier League in 2021 and the club 2nd and 3rd XI play in the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union lower divisions. The Union is one of three regional feeder leagues to the Cricket Scotland League set up. Gavin Mark Hamilton (born 16 September 1974) is a Scottish former cricketer who played One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals for Scotland and one Test match for England. Life and career He began his senior career in 1993, taking 5–65 in the first innings of his first-class debut, Scotland's annual game against Ireland. He also played a few times that year for Yorkshire's Second XI, making his first-team debut for the county in 1994. He took a few years to become established in the side, but by 1998 was an important team member: that summer he took 59 first-class wickets at 20.54 as well as scoring six fifties, and claimed 34 one-day scalps at 18.94.
