Meigle Cricket Club Meigle Cricket Club is a cricket club in Meigle, Perthshire, Scotland. Established in 1876, it has won the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union, of which it was a founder member in 1929, on eight occasions 2022, 2019, 2014, 2001, 1998, 1980, 1961 and 1954. The club was second to Brechin in the inaugural season. The 1st XI played in the Cricket Scotland Eastern Premier League in 2021 and the club 2nd and 3rd XI play in the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union lower divisions. The Union is one of three regional feeder leagues to the Cricket Scotland League set up. The club has long running rivalry with Freuchie Cricket Club from Fife from many years competing in the Scottish section of the National Village Cup which the club has won ten times, the first year of the Village Cup in 1972 and the most recent success was 2022 in a 5 wicket win over Falkland to make it three titles in a row. Meigle Cricket Club - Geograph
Meigle ( gd, Mìgeil, ) is a village in Strathmore, Scotland. It lies in the council area of Perth and Kinross in the Coupar Angus and Meigle ward. It lies on the A94 road between Perth and Forfar. Other smaller settlements nearby are Balkeerie, Kirkinch and Kinloch. Meigle is accessed from the north and south via the B954 road. In 1971 it had a population of 357. Etymology The name ''Meigle'' is of Pictish origin. The Strathmore Union was the main cricket league for clubs in the north and midlands of Scotland outside of the Scottish Counties Cricket Championship until the late 1990s. It was one of four feeder leagues to the Scottish National Cricket League The Scottish National Cricket League was formed for the 1999 season after a conference season in 1998. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Annette J. Drummond (born 21 October 1984) is a Scottish international cricketer who debuted for the Scottish national side in 2002. A right-handed batsman, she has appeared in five of the eight One Day International (ODI) matches that Scotland has played to date. Ryan Watson (cricketer)
Ryan Robert Watson (born 12 November 1976) is a Zimbabwean-born Scottish cricketer who played limited over internationals and captained Scottish cricket team, Scotland. He currently plays club cricket with Forfarshire CC. Watson is a hard hitting right-handed batsman and is able to bowl both medium-fast and off-break deliveries. He hit the headlines in 2003 when he hit a century (cricket), century off just 43 balls in a game against Somerset at The Grange, Edinburgh. In 2008 he became one of the first three players to be awarded a contract with Cricket Scotland. Early days Watson was previously on the coaching staff of Potchefstroom Boys High in South Africa. Cricket Scotland, formerly known as the Scottish Cricket Union, is the governing body of the sport of cricket in Scotland. The body is based at the National Cricket Academy, Edinburgh. The SCU was formed in 1908, but underwent a major restructuring in 2001 including a name change. It became an International Cricket Council member in 1994 as an Associate nation. Fife

The Freuchie Cricket Club is a cricket club based in the village of Freuchie, Scotland. The club was formed in 1908, and with some disruption in the war years, has been going strong ever since.
