Gordon District Cricket Club is a cricket club based in Gordon, New South Wales, Australia. The club, which was founded in 1905, has won 6 first grade titles since then. The Stags share their home ground of Chatswood Oval with Gordon Rugby Club. Sydney Grade Cricket
NSW Premier Cricket (formerly known as Sydney Grade Cricket) is a cricket competition played in Sydney, Australia. The competition began in 1893 when a number of clubs that had been playing for many years on an ad hoc basis voted to create a formal competition structure. The NSW Premier Cricket competition is generally played on Saturdays and begins in mid-September and continues until the grand final is played on the first weekend of April. Spectators are generally few and far between at matches, mostly family members, partners or club members. The exception to this is at T20 matches which can attract crowds into the hundreds and occasionally the low thousands. Players for the NSW team are selected from the first-grade competition. Adam Craig Gilchrist (; born 14 November 1971) is an Australian cricket commentator and former international cricketer and captain of the Australia national cricket team. He was an attacking left-handed batsman and record-breaking wicket-keeper, who redefined the role for the Australia national team through his aggressive batting. Cricket Clubs Established In 1905
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Charlie Stobo (born 8 March 1995) is an Australian cricketer. He made his first-class debut for New South Wales in the 2016–17 Sheffield Shield season on 5 December 2016. He made his List A debut for Cricket Australia XI in the 2017–18 JLT One-Day Cup on 10 October 2017. After strong performances in Western Australia Premier Cricket, Stobo was called into the Western Australia squad for the 2020–21 Marsh One-Day Cup. Matthew William Parkinson (born 24 October 1996) is an English cricketer who plays for Lancashire. He made his international debut for the England cricket team in November 2019. Mason Crane
Mason Sidney Crane (born 18 February 1997) is an English cricketer who plays for Hampshire. He is a right-arm leg break bowler and right-handed batsman. He also played for the England national cricket team in 2017 & 2018. Domestic career Crane was a member of the Hampshire County Cricket Club academy since the age of 14, where he was under the guidance of former Hampshire spinner Rajesh Maru at Lancing College, West Sussex. Phil Emery
Philip Allen Emery (born 25 June 1964) is a former Australian cricketer. A wicket-keeper and valuable left-handed batsman, he represented Australia internationally and New South Wales domestically. Born in St Ives, Sydney, Emery was educated at Newington College Preparatory School, Lindfield (1969–72), and Shore School, North Sydney (1973–1982). At Shore, he was captain of cricket and captain of rugby and subsequently represented GPS teams in both sports. He was also a very good swimmer and diver in his early school years. Chatswood Oval
Chatswood Oval is located south of the Chatswood railway station in northern Sydney. It has four small pavilions and seating surrounding the oval. It is one of the Lower North Shore's largest sportsgrounds, and the home ground of the Gordon Rugby Football Club and Gordon District Cricket Club. One of the largest crowds was 8,127 when Gordon Rugby played Randwick in 1976. Gordon Rugby have been playing at Chatswood Oval since 1936. The approximate dimensions of the oval are 145 metres by 112 metres. History In 1898, the local council approved for five acres of land south of the railway station to be made a public park. Ian Davis (cricketer)
Ian Charles Davis (born 25 June 1953) is an Australian former cricketer (batsman) who played in 15 Test matches and three One Day Internationals between 1973 and 1977. Davis retired from first-class cricket in 1984 then worked for Dunlop Slazenger (part of the Pacific Brands group) until his retirement in 2010. Bright start Ian Davis' talent was spotted early and he was selected to tour the West Indies in 1969/70 with the Australian Schoolboys XI.
