Goorooyarroo Parish
Goorooyarroo Parish is a parish of Murray County, New South Wales, a cadastral unit for use on land titles. Geography It is located to the north-east of the Australian Capital Territory. History About a third of the parish was transferred to the Federal Capital Territory (later renamed the Australian Capital Territory) in 1909, which included what is now the northern suburbs of Gungahlin. A small part of the New South Wales electoral districts of Monaro and Burrinjuck were in the parish as mentioned in their electoral district profiles. The brown treecreeper (''Climacteris picumnus'') is the largest Australasian treecreeper. The bird, endemic to eastern Australia, has a broad distribution, occupying areas from Cape York, Queensland, throughout New South Wales and Victoria to Port Augusta and the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve
Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary (previously ''Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve'') is a protected area situated in the Gungahlin district in north Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. It has several trails for walking, running and cycling. The sanctuary functions as a fieldwork site for researchers studying native ecology. Geography The area consists of woodland, open grassland and a large dam surrounded by a fox-proof fence. Despite being freehold and then leasehold grazing land prior to becoming a reserve, Mulligans Flat has been subjected to less overall farming pressure than other areas at similar proximity to human activity.
