Goodnight Girl
"Goodnight Girl" is the third single from Scottish band Wet Wet Wet's fourth studio album, ''High on the Happy Side'' (1992). It was released on 23 December 1991 and was the second of the band's three UK number-one singles (the first being a cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends"), but the only one to be self-penned. Writer Graeme Clark was inspired to write the song for his then girlfriend, but has never publicly named her. A string-laden ballad, "Goodnight Girl" spent four weeks at number one in the UK Singles Chart in January 1992. It also gave Wet Wet Wet their third Irish number-one single (after "With a Little Help from My Friends" and " Sweet Surrender") and reached the top 10 in Belgium and the Netherlands. Marti Pellow recorded his own version of the song for inclusion on his 2002 album ''Marti Pellow Sings the Hits of Wet Wet Wet & Smile''. Wet Wet Wet
Wet Wet Wet are a Scottish soft rock band formed in 1982. They scored a number of hits in the UK charts and around the world in the 1980s and 1990s. They are best known for their 1994 cover of The Troggs' 1960s hit "Love Is All Around", which was used on the soundtrack to the film ''Four Weddings and a Funeral''. The song was an international success, and spent 15 weeks atop the British charts. The band is currently composed of founding member Graeme Clark (bass, vocals) and lead vocalist Kevin Simm, who replaced founding member Marti Pellow in 2018 after he left during the previous year. Graeme Duffin (lead guitar, vocals) has also been with the band as a touring musician since 1983. The band were named Best British Newcomer at the 1988 Brit Awards. ''MTV's Most Wanted'' is a television series on MTV Europe which was broadcast from 1992 to 1995, based in London, England. It was presented by Ray Cokes. The series was broadcast live from MTV Studios in Camden and featured blends of viewer interaction, competitions, live music performances and music videos. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
