Goodmayes Hospital
Goodmayes Hospital is a mental health facility in Goodmayes in the London Borough of Redbridge. It is managed by the North East London NHS Foundation Trust. History The site selected had previously been occupied by Blue House Farm. The hospital, which was designed by Lewis Angell using a Compact Arrow layout and built by Leslie and Co, opened as the West Ham Borough Asylum in August 1901. It became West Ham Mental Hospital in 1918 and a major expansion of the hospital was completed in February 1934. Dr James Harvey Cuthbert, who served as the hospital superintendent, was a pioneer of electric shock therapy in the late 1930s. The hospital, which was badly bombed during the Second World War, joined the National Health Service as Goodmayes Hospital in 1948. North East London NHS Foundation Trust
North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) is an NHS foundation trust which provides mental and community health services. It runs Foxglove Ward, Goodmayes Hospital and Sunflowers Court in Ilford, Phoenix House in Basildon, Heronwood & Galleon Inpatient Facility in Wanstead, Grays Court Community Hospital in Dagenham, and Hawkwell Court in Chingford. Altogether it operates from more than 150 sites. History The trust was established as the North East London Mental Health NHS Trust on 5 June 2000, and became operational on 1 April 2001. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom. Newbury Park Tube Station
Newbury Park is a London Underground station in Newbury Park, Ilford, East London. It is between Barkingside and Gants Hill stations on the Hainault loop of the Central line, in Travelcard Zone 4. The station was initially opened by the Great Eastern Railway on 1 May 1903 and subsequently transferred its services to the London & North Eastern Railway due to the amalgamation. Underground trains only started serving the station on 14 December 1947, operating via the Gants Hill tunnel. The line was extended to Hainault on 31 May 1948. The Grade II listed bus shelter designed by Oliver Hill opened on 6 July 1949. Goodmayes is a district of Ilford in the London Borough of Redbridge, England. It is situated eleven miles north-east of Charing Cross, and forms part of both the Romford and Ilford post towns. Historically part of Essex, it was part of the Municipal Borough of Ilford until 1965 when it was incorporated into Greater London. History The name ''Goodmayes'' and ''Goodmaistrete'' is recorded in 1456, and the name is likely to be associated with the family of John Godemay who was referred to in a document of 1319. A farm called ''Goodmath'' is recorded on the ''Chapman and Andre'' 1 inch to one mile map of Essex from 1777.
