Golmud CPV Solar Park
Golmud CPV Solar Park is a 138  MWp (~110  MWAC) concentrator photovoltaics power station located near Golmud City in Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, China. It is the largest operating CPV facility in the world, and was constructed in two phases by Suncore Photovoltaics starting in 2012. It is situated at an elevation of about 2,800 meters (9,200 ft) on the Tibetan plateau near the Gobi Desert with several other conventional photovoltaic power stations. Facility details The park includes the 270 acre 57.96  MWp Golmud 1 unit located 7 km south of the airport, and the 370 acre 79.83  MWp Golmud 2 unit located about 27 km east. Golmud, also known by various other romanizations, is a county-level city in the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, China. It is now the second-largest city in Qinghai and the third largest in the Tibetan Plateau (after Xining and Lhasa). The population in 2020 is 221,863. Name ''Golmud'' is a romanization of a Mongolian word meaning "rivers". Qinghai Golmud Solar Park
Qinghai Golmud Solar Park () is a photovoltaic power station located in Golmud, Qinghai Province, China. It is 20.16 megawatt-peak (MWp), and was completed in 2011 by Longyuan Power. It uses 18.63079 MW of polycrystalline silicon solar cell modules and 1.530144 MW of amorphous silicon thin film modules. The polysilicon modules are by Yingli, and the amorphous ones are from Golden Sun Solar (GS-Solar). The capacity factor is expected to be 0.189. Huanghe Hydropower Golmud Solar Park
Huanghe Hydropower's Golmud Solar park is a 200 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power station located in Golmud, Qinghai Province, China. Construction began in August 2009, and it was commissioned on October 29, 2011. 80 MW was provided by Yingli. The project won the 2012 China Quality Power Project Award. Output is expected to be 317  GWh per year. Also in Golmud is the 20 MW Qinghai Golmud Solar Park completed in 2011 by Longyuan Power, as well as others. The Eubank Landfill Solar Array is a photovoltaic power station in Albuquerque, New Mexico that consists of 1.0  MWAC of concentrator photovoltaics (CPV) and 1.0  MWAC of flat-panel silicon photovoltaics (PV). Multi-junction Solar Cell
Multi-junction (MJ) solar cells are solar cells with multiple p–n junctions made of different semiconductor materials. Each material's p-n junction will produce electric current in response to different wavelengths of light. The use of multiple semiconducting materials allows the absorbance of a broader range of wavelengths, improving the cell's sunlight to electrical energy conversion efficiency. Traditional single-junction cells have a maximum theoretical efficiency of 33.16%. Theoretically, an infinite number of junctions would have a limiting efficiency of 86.8% under highly concentrated sunlight. As of 2008 the best lab examples of traditional crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells had efficiencies between 20% and 25%, while lab examples of multi-junction cells have demonstrated performance over 46% under concentrated sunlight.
