Golf At The 2014 Summer Youth Olympics
Golf at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 19 August to 26 August at the Zhongshan International Golf Club in Nanjing, China. This marked the debut of golf at the Youth Olympics as it was voted an Olympic sport for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) entered a maximum of 2 athletes, 1 male and 1 female. As hosts, China was initially given the maximum quota, but only selected a male athlete and a further 10 athletes were to be decided by the Tripartite Commission, but only seven were used, the rest were reallocated. The remaining 26 teams were decided by adding the ranking place of the top ranked eligible male and female golfers on the World Amateur Golf Rankings released on 8 June 2014. The 26 NOCs with the lowest combined rankings qualified. To be eligible to participate at the Youth Olympics athletes must have been born between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 1998. Zhongshan International Golf Club
Zhongshan (; ) is a prefecture-level city in the south of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong province, China. As of the 2020 census, the whole city with 4,418,060 inhabitants is now part of the Guangzhou–Shenzhen conurbation with 65,565,622 inhabitants. Marcus Kinhult
Marcus Mikael Kinhult (born 24 July 1996) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Betfred British Masters. Early life Being son of golf professional Mikael Kinhult, he started playing the game at six years of age at Skaftö Golf Club in Fiskebäckskil, on the small Swedish west coast island Skaftö with 1,400 inhabitants. Virginia Elena Carta
Virginia Elena Carta (born 24 December 1996) is an Italian professional golfer who plays on the Ladies European Tour. In 2016, she received the Honda Sports Award after winning the NCAA Women's Championship. Amateur career Carta was born in Milan on Christmas Eve in 1996 and grew up in Udine, Italy, where she was introduced to golf by her mother at a young age. Linnea Ström (born 14 October 1996) is a Swedish professional golfer. She joined the U.S.-based LPGA Tour after graduating from the Symetra Tour as 2018 Rookie of the Year.
